Go Compaq! I have the X1000, uses Microsoft Centrino technology. 60gb 5400 rpm drive, 512 ram, ATI 64 MB Video card, and a 15.4" wide screen UXGA display. That screen is the best I have ever seen on a laptop, also the highest resolution, you can view two word documents side by side. Gotta love that screen. All together cost me 2 grand. We also own a older Compaq persario notebook (my sisters) and we just purchased a cheep Toshiba laptop for when one of the others are in the shop or if we just need another computer, only cost $500. Currently my compaq x1000 is the fastest computer in the family (1.5 ghz M, performs at about a 2.6 ghz P4). I am currently building a custom Desktop for my dad, 3 ghz Pentum 4 HT, Dual 200 GB hard drives, DVD burner, the works, this will take the top slot once finished. We also own several old Desktops though we never use them, I believe they operate at 800mhz, 600mhz, 300mhz, and then ancient ones.
