Quick Honda Dude...

First, you have chosen the wrong forum to talk about this.
Second, how can you be a true racer and not know that punie civic engine be better than BMW's. It is not just the engine, its a whole car in itself.

I bet your car has a free-flow exhaust [rofl], tinted windows and hrome rims. [rofl] = ricer since its civic and that will do shit.
Let me tell you a little secret of my own.
I am 19 and make more money now than you will ever make...so I think I should get myself a Ferrari ... umm.. sooner than you will... with the lexuries of driving a nice car nowand living now.
Its good to save up,.. but don't say Civic is a better car for financial reasons. That would make a Ferrari a terrible car.
[rofl]
I think the one on top is going faster:
Ah your ignorance is a mark of such a shallow existence thus far......ASSuming too much young one gets you in places your narrow mind cant even begin to comprehend.

But you can "think" whatever you want, its a free country....but your thoughts cant help you when your getting pulled on by the very car you deem so mundane. Kids like you are such easy prey....tell me this....have you ever been to a drag strip with you car? A road course? An autocross event? An open track day? A lapping session?

I would imagine you have about as much knowledge about vehicle dynamics as you do rocket science.....

At 19 I was selling cars and making $5000 every 2 weeks....had I been wiser that money probably would have lasted longer but such is life....but seeing as how you make so much more than I do I am sure thats chump change right? I am sure you have tons of equity in your properties and receive tons of cash flow from your rentals? Or maybe you like to dabble in the markets? Either way......new money can be smelled a mile away and your stench isnt fooling anybody young one...slow your roll before you choose to show your ignorance

Why would you want to trade a car that is faster than most exotic cars for an //M? Most exotic cars are faster than M3s... why would you want to trade your fast civic for a slow M, M3 or any other good car on the market?P.S.
Give me one place that has BMWs as taxis.
Take a trip to Germany with the TONS of cash you make and take a look for yourself.....Ever seen a new 3 or 5 series with manual windows?

They are just cars...they do not define your existence

Who said I was trading anything in...my civic has long been MINE and all my mods are paid for in CASH....the M will most likely be my daily for a while. I am putting a cage and a few other goodies in the Civic for lap days....I try to limit my liabilities as much as possible and if I am going to stuff a car into the wall its not going to be my M Coupe....the civic is easy and relatively inexpensive to redo from the ground up....replacing the M would be much like trying to replace 93 RX7.....limited availibilty costs on many fronts....lowering the cost to play allows you to maximize the play time per $ spent.....my next project is a 125cc shifter Kart (want to get the kids into Karting) a decent Kart is only 7-8 grand and a season may only cost 2K....well worth the money IMO for what you get the kid models go for 3-5 and a season of spares and tires shouldnt be too much.

Just because I choose to run a civic doesnt mean I cant afford a "better" car.....I limit my play spending to maximize other areas of my life...

No worries, I have enough play money and saving money. My business is booming with eveyr year and I have already saved up 50K to build my house ($$ after my car purchase), think I would save 200K in several years. I am not working for anyone, I work for myself... so I would not get dropped like some salesman can. 4 years up and running .. not stopping anytime soon. [:I]

I agree with you that Hoda bought out Acura because they could possibly make a car that everybody would THINK was on BMW's level. You might not want to pull the thirty years thing though, considering the fact that the VW bettle has been around, and has been modded for way longer. Yes push, he is right about BMW's being taxis in Germany. But they are also the choice for police vehicles by the GTA recovery squad in certain countries. That is mostly because of the availability of parts, and the fact that discounts are given to cab companies to improve masstransit and emissions, much like volkswagen is doing in Mexico. Just because it is a cab doesn't mean it is a bad car. Come out here and take a look at some of the cabs in this town.It is just plain stupid to try to place a Honda Civic on the platter with a BMW 3 series. That is like placing a Dodge Stratu on a platter with Lexus SC400 (i think the new SC's are ugly). You also have to take into consideration the model of the car. Placing my car there with a Civic yeah, I can understand that. Placing a Dinan M5 there with a Civic, I don't f@cking think so. I can sort of understand why you would want to take a civic and mod it for "real" racing, but I would personally take the Miata, it hyas better handling. We don't need to be jumping down this guys throat for his screenname or what kind of car he owns. If we do that we have to kick hitman, and half of braht off the forum. If he appreciates BMW's how is this any different from me¿ I might own a bimmer, but it's not a very nice or fast one. Either way, I have no qualms about you taking the Honda and stuffing it in the garage so that you can drive an M coupe everyday. If you don't mind, could you post a pic of your civic so that I can see if I am going to have to edit this post¿[thumb]

Lets all be friends. [B)]

Just a random thing:

I searched the phrase "honda sucks" on google and got 1630 results, and than I search "BMW sucks" and got 199. Does that mean anything? [confused]

Will do....there was a couple of pics on my local track website but now there are only a few.....so I will paste up the ones that are left. My point was not to compare the civic to the three but more to show cars are just cars and defining a car is silly simply because its all about perception.....taxi BWM....race Honda....etc... Acura's are not POS but they are Honda products...The miata isnt bad but its wheel base left me cold...add about 350-400whp and you have a tail happy monster...fun...but also very dangerous.

This one is of my car at launch last year......I destroyed the civic in the far lane by a healthy 4 seconds.....wasnt pretty

This is me in the finals vs a dedicated bracket racer from out of state....I was on my street tires and reeled him in by the end and became our tracks inaugural Honda/Acura battle of the imports champ....my rookie season too [thumb]

I skiped racing this year because my daughter was born so I took a break from racing.....next season I will most likely be deployed to Korea so I wont get the opportunity to compete for a while. I am in the Air Force so....cant always get what I want [hihi]

Quick,...

What 0-60 are we talking about here?
Depending on my tires anywhere from low to mid 5's......traction isnt always easy with a FWD so its all dependant on luck/tire compound [fake]

My 60's are 2.0's usaually with 2.1's.....with slicks I could cut a 1.8-1.9 so basically 12's on slicks.....its a fun little car and is a 100% reliable setup....mostly factory with the exception of a few bolt on parts and dyno tuning....she has a little left in her and should be high 12's on street tires with 104-105 trap .....not bad for a 110ci 4 banger....thats about all the money I will put into her though....focus more on suspension/tires and brakes.....

Edit: If I dont respond I went to get dinner....be back tommorrow.....be sure to rev to 8600 rpm and dump the clutch [hihi] the proceeding 100ft tire marks brought to you by 4 pissed off hampsters [thumb] night guys

im sorry...........quick civic dude......did you say 350-400 rwhp in a MIATA???? holy sh't......we used to own a miata, and what did they come with stock? 150 hp? if that.........if you had 250 or even 300, you could kill a lot of cars out there....especially with a diff. suspension/weight reduction/tires and proper mods to the engine........400 hp miata....i would buy mine back if i could do that....

sorry, i am just really bored right now[thumb]

dont worry, i drive a 1987 325is......its slow

depending on what mods you do,some might hurt the longevity of the engine.also, improperly tuned nitrous kits and turbo/superchargers will hurt not only the engine, but your wallet.some others like chips, air filter/intake(not the intake manifold itself) and a catback exhaust will, most times, help the engine in breathing better, and allowing the exhaust to escape more efficiently.this in turn, make the engine run more efficient, making it last longer.but then again,if you do some mods, then have a lead foot, that'll hurt the engine more than the mods itself.redlining a motor all the time will weaken certain parts internally.but don't get me wrong,98% of the time, most BOLT ON aftermarket stuff will help the engine perform to it's peak, and will not have many,if any, drawbacks as far as driveability and/or reliablilty.

LETS KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC GUYS.......he did ask if aftermarket stuff will hurt an engine,NOT THE RESALE VALUE OF HONDAS AND BMW's. [rolleyes]

i was thinking about chipping my ride when i recently read an article from a reputable magazine that placing aftermarket mods to increase performance really shortens the lifespan of the car's engine. needless to say i was very dissapointed after reading this. what do you guys think?[8]
To get back on topic - I'm interested in reading this article. Can you tell me where I can find it?

They are high rev but lack the feel-good torque. How sad.
I really don't like the absence of power on the 325i before about 2,500 rpm, after that it feels a lot better but I just love the power that comes after 5,000 rpm. I can't image how bad it feels to have to rev up the engine just to get a good star, especially when it's past 6,000 rpm. That is one reason I don't like high revving Honda engines.
