You do not. I have 2 Sony receivers and have purchased a lot of stuff from Besy Buy. I was just going with his budget of $10,000.00 which gets you some nice high-end stuff. The thing about Internet based stuff is you don't get the interaction and non-verbal stuff.

It is like what would I do if I had $10 million all at once and saying man I sure would never drive that piece of crap 330i. I am probably not making myself clear but the talk here I think is more like for 10k I sure would never buy that crap at K-Mart more than it is putting the K-mart stuff down. [wave]
The $10 million with the 330i is a very good analogy and you did make yourself very clear with it. I agree completely with that statement. I buy a lot of things from Best Buy (I love that store). I just haven't bought my Stereo equipment there. [thumb]

Well I finaly got a chance to hear the speakers today. I am not impressed, they were very bright and lacked boom, plus I heard a very noticable hiss. They were the 25 series so they are lower thain the ones I would buy. They were connected up to a Yamaha reciever wich he said tend to be on the bright side, also noted that the larger speakers ie 35, 5, 7 are deeper.

When I got home I poped in my demo cds and movies in my JVC HX-Z10 mini system and what a difference. In the jvc all the sounds were perfectly acurate, had lots of punch and absolutely no hiss. I also thought I got louder sound from those all toghether thain the much larger 25s I tried.

Another deler not to far actualy has a demo set of the 5's and said they could hook it up to a dennon reciever for me to get the proper effect. I will also try out the Infinitys' soon for a true comparason.

Here is a pic of my JVC mini. I purchased it after tons of research and I use it daily for everything TV, Movies, Music. The only thing it lacks is surround sound but it does a great job with out it. Did I mention the bass can be heard from across the street, seriously.

Even the room where you audition your system can make or break the sound. I got my home cinema system a good few years ago Teac receiver, Tannoy Precision speakers, Sony DVD, JVC SVHS VCR, Rel sub, DLP prjector, 6ft screen, Philips 4:3 32" TV. In my old house this sytem worked beautiful lovely crisp sound and enough bass to move the walls, I moved to another house where the floor area in the room was the same but the shape was a lot diffrent and the sound sort of canceled it's self out and sounded terrible. I moved again to a house where although the room was about the same size as the first the construction materials were diffrent but the sound was back and beautiful again. I took the sound system home and auditioned it where it was going to be used I tried quite a few diffrent speakers, amps, and subs before I got a sound I was happy with. I lived about 400 miles from the shop where I bought from, Global HiFi in Newcastle upon Tyne, I was there the day they opened and the level of service I got from them was excellent.

Have you gone to a dealer that has a listening room where you can compare brands? The best speakers are the ones that sound best to YOU. You can review specs until you die of analysis paralysis! The best way to choose speakers is to pick a price range and audition as many as you can in that rannge with the a few favorite CDs/DVDs. It's just a plain fact that some speakers sound better for rock, some sound better for classical, etc. The manufactured quality of most BRAND NAME speakers in a given price range will be very similar.

Now for my opinions/suggestions:
- Listen to Boston Acoustics speakers. Someone else mentioned them, they deserve to be in the running.
- Check out the mid to upper end Yamaha A/V Receivers. You won't find these at a mass merchandiser like Best Buy, CC, etc. You must go to a stereo specialty shop.
- Bose is not all that bad but you don't get as much speaker for your dollar. They spend WAY to much money on advertising, which you ultimately subsidize with you purchase. Look at the Bose Wave radio. It sounds great for its size but it is WAY overpriced, and think about where you see it advertised.

Good Luck!

I was at an audtioning room when I tried the Klipsech. The reciever they had hooked up to it was a $1500 Yamaha and I hated it. Either the reciever was good and the speakers were absolute crap or the reciever was bad and the speakers werent so bad. I am going to try the speakers with a Denon receiver to see if it makes a difference.

You are asking the wrong people for advice. JVC boombox???? Come on now. Go to www.audioasylum.com and other audiophile sites. $10,000 can get alot for the money. Also check out www.audiogon.com for used audiophile equipment. Audiphiles are like car buffs, they need the latest and greatest. Needless to say, there are many bargains to be had on top quality stuff. Brands you probably have never heard.

My system is the following and I love it.

Anthem AVM 20 v2.10 Pre-amp Processor $3,300 list $2,600 used www.anthemav.com
Rotel 1095 Amplifier $1,500 list $1,000 used
Pioneer Elite DVD 49i $1,000 list $500 used
(Fronts) Paradigm Reference Studio 100v3 $2,200 list $ 1,700 used www.paradigm.com
(Center) Paradigm Reference Studio CC570 $900 list $ 700 used
(Rears) Paradigm Reference Studio ADP 470 $950 list $700 used
(Subwoofer) Paradigm Reference Servo 15 $1,500 list $800 used

This system will gives me goosebumps regardless of the song. Its really that good. And, it will play DVD audio. Compared to a CD DVD or SACD makes a CD sound like a cassette. You cold always buy another set of the ADP 470's to have a rocking 7.1 system.

The boom box is just something I have in my room, btw its mini system not a boom box (speakers arent connected to the main unit).

As for your list of products, all I can afford is around $3k for speakers and I am not keen on used products. Also the most I cand spend is about a grand for a reciever, you know I have to be able to fit a TV in my $10,000 budget.

coyotefreek, I'm sorry man, but I can't believe that you were unimpressed with Klipsch speakers. And I cannot believe you like your JVC mini-system better than the big Kilpsch speakers. I have heard Kliipsch floor-standing speakers and they are absolutely amazing....sound is clean, clear, great reproduction, and extremely rich. I have the Klipsch 2.1 computer audio system and it is absolutely amazing. You have to take into consideration that floor-standing speakers are designed to produce the sound to a wider area of room, whereas your mini-system is more for listening up-close. Maybe that affected the way you were hearing the Klipsch's. [???1]

It's funny that you say that. When I was choosing the floor-standing speakers, my dad kept suggesting that I check out Bose speakers. He said that recently people have been saying they are over-rated, but they are traditionally very good...I guess he hasn't listened to any of the more recent Bose speakers and was basing his opinion off of older Bose speakers.

We have a Bose Lifestyle system thats probably 4-5 years old. They are the small jewel cube speakers and I think the sound is great. I must say I have never heard the Klipsch speakers but for the size of the Bose speakers, I am impressed.

I am sure a lot of you have heard many a speakers in your days, but how do you guys feel about Bang & Olufsen?
