DAMN! I forgot about an engagement ring! I knew there was something I had to buy instead of a BMW 325is!!
That's about the truth. My fiancee's engagement ring cost almost twice what I paid for my e30. After picking up the ring and paying for it, I couldn't help but look over at the tiny little box sitting on the passenger's seat and wonder how something so small could cost more than this entire hunk of steel that was transporting both me and the ring safely down the interstate. It's definitely an interesting tradition to think about. [:I]

However, she's definitely worth it to me, and seeing the look on her face when I proposed was definitely worth every penny.

Yup, platinum setting. Tiffany style. I'd buy the tiffany setting, but I don't think they let any of their stores sell just the setting.

My g/f wants a D color. Both of us can spot the color difference on an F stone. The E is harder, but well, let's just say I've waited so long to propose, that she wants to be able to tell her friends that one aspect of her ring is flawless. And frankly, all but one of her engaged/married friends have been snooty to her lately that I'm mad and want her to be able to one-up them. She doesn't want me telling them what I think of them cuz their her friends, but I'd also get some satisfaction if she can one-up some of her friends. Besides, I'm spending this much on a chunk of charcoal. I'm blowing this much already, I might as well get the best. It's the same reasoning why I ended up with the BMW instead of the G35. I wanted the Ultimate Driving Machine so I might as well get teh original.

You guys scare me at how much you know about diamonds.
Believe me, if you are in the market for one and are spending thousands of dollars on a ring that your wife is going to wear for the rest of her life, then you'll learn alot about diamonds, too. I knew next to nothing about them before I went shopping for the ring.

Yup. I knew squat. Then I was told to learn the 4 C's. After that, you start learning what percentages are needed to make up a perfect diamond. And it goes into the half percent range too. Then, you need to go out and see them in person cuz there's a huge difference from learning stuff on the internet and in real life. It's like having a second job!

I hope I never have to do that shopping then.
