Well I'm selling all the parts for my supercomputer :-( any takers?

Just thought I'd let you guys know...

I'm auctioning off almost all the main components of the computer I was going to build for myself, and one that I already had built. It was going to be a great machine. I am selling all this stuff because ****ing Half-Life 2 is now delayed till god knows when, and that's the only reason I was going to build this computer. So for now I'm fine with my old 2.26 and ATI 9700 :-/

Either way, I'm selling the stuff fairly cheap.

Thanks - any questions PM me :)

All I have to say is WOW, youre going to lose a lot of money. Sorry, it will probably make you feel bad but I just had to say that. I would have gotten the Audigy but I bought a cheap Audigy 1 OEM version from some pc store while I was getting more ram. Do you have a DVD burner by any chance, or a DVD player? My CD-ROM is freaking out and I think it's time to replace it with a DVD player.

lol, Yes I know I am going to loose a real lot. However, I would rather just get all this stuff out of here. Maybe with what little money I get back I can do a little something with my car.

I decided to keep the DVD Burner that I bought, however I just checked and I do have a spare DVD Rom. Its white with a "DVD ROM" ensignia on the front, perfectly clean. I'm too lazy to shut off one of my computers to test it but it should work fine as it looks brand new. If you want it its yours shipped for $15. PM me if you want it.

Thanks "///M Speed/// :)

Also, I am an nVidia guy too! I used to always buy the latest nVida cards, because they were always the best. Lately though nVidia has been really slacking off and ATI definitly has had the strongest card from the latest generation of VPU/GPUs. I would really like to go back to nVidia (Their drivers kick ass), but I'm afraid I won't be able to if they don't come out with something that blows ATI out of the water.

Also as a side note... I built my systems in anticipation of Half-Life 2 - thats the only reason. And if you had been paying attention to the press releases Valve stated that "If you want to play Half-Life 2 to it's full potential, you need to play it on a 9800 Pro".

Yes, I overclock my computers. I'm not hardcore or anything, I just like a higher FSB speed. My current 2.26 system is running on a 148 FSB quad pumped which puts the CPU at 2.51Ghz. Like I said I'm not crazy about this. I only use air cooling for everything. Including my 15K SCSI drives. I was even planning on air cooling the 3.06 via the massive 190 CFM fan that I'm selling, lol.

As for my other computers I have my 2nd setup (1.33 GHz AMD) overclocked, but I forget how much. All the other computers are just servers or for listening to MP3s so they don't really need to be overclocked, so I just leave them alone. :)

What so the GeForce FX 5900 isn't any good? lol[hihi]
LOL. The funny thing is that in early September when I was ordering all the parts I orderd 2 FX5900's. Once valve made the announcement that HL2 will run better with the ATI (due mostly to better AA/AF performance) I returned both of the GeForces. When you factor in the 20% restocking fee for both of those and the hit I'm taking by selling all this on eBay you can realize how much I regret this, and how mad I am at valve for delaying HL2 [:(!]

My friends bother works for Valve. He does all the textures etc… for the game. The game has already been postponed for 3-4 years or so. It is probably going to be postponed again till next year. The game is going to be the s#!t. You are going to have the latest and greatest equipment to run that game. Do you play the original HL and some of the mods?

Yea, see I stopped trusting companies when it comes to release dates. I remeber I was waiting for Duke Nukem Forever all the way back in 1997, it was still 'delayed' as of 2000, most likely dead now.

I overclock every computer I own for fun. If it fries, I get new parts. I haven't fried one chip yet. I do it just for fun. Most of the newer chip out don't really need to be overclocked, because they are plenty fast enough, but I just love doing it.

I haven't fried anything yet but I have broken plenty of components. I have a VERY bad temper, and that doesn't always pan out well when I'm working on computers. Anyone who has had to deal with a cheap heaksink on an Athlon knows what a pain in the ass they can be to get off. I have smashed two AMD chips while installing them because I just get frustrated, lol.

Also, you have NO IDEA how many keyboard I have broken. I kept a lot of them in a big pile to remind myself what I'm unstable. I'll be sure to take a picture of them tomorrow :p As for that I have found a solution to breaking keyboards. I bought 12 of those 1984 IBM keyboard off of eBay. I absolutely LOVE these things. They are industructable. It's funny to see a brand new computer system with a keyboard that's older than I am. lol

Yeah the SCSIs are the latest generations 15,000 RPM Seagate Cheatas. Both on 18GB on each of my two main computers. They run off of adaptec 29106n SCSI U160 cards. No raid or anything - I find them to be plenty fast just they way they are :)
