I know anybody should be able to join in, but there is no reason to have BMW club with members who owns different kind of cars.

Having such supremely designed automobile just means that we have to share the joy that was so graciously given to us with the less fortunate. [joke] So hitman is left out. (sorry kid), but what about bimmubishi¿ Does he only get half a membership¿

Actually there is "personal information" attached to your VIN. I could get the name, address, city & state, lien holders, and in some states telephone number and date of birth of the lien holders and/or registered owners.

As far as becoming the biggest club, I think it will take you more than two to three years. BMW CCA has over 70,000 members in the US alone. Not to mention that their annual dues of $35.00 pays for the Roundel, a very good and worth while publication, will get you 10 - 25% off parts and labor at numerous parts stores and delalerships (thereby saving you your $35.00 with one purchase), you will get a chapter newsletter, $500 - $1500.00 rebate on the purchase of some new and certified used BMW's, and more. Now that's a lot to compete with!

Im taking in my mind

Yes you are definetly right. It will probably take more than that, but I think its worth to try. Maybe we will never be able to compete but like I said we are going to try our best. Everything is in development so we'll see in a few months.

Thank you for your opinion.[wave]

Or what if you got a VIN off eBay, or out of a wrecking yard, or off a car lot? How are you going to tell if someone just makes one up? Are you going to run all these VINs? Food for thought.

No, I never cheat, suggest it or condone it. Like the last line says, "food for thought". You have to think of these things if your going to form a club with rules etc. Do you have any idea what BMW CCA spends on legal services? I think your idea is great, go for it, but I think you need to consider the whole package.

Don't you think your spinning BMW logo should have the blau mit weiss spin so that it looks like a propeller?

As for the BMW club, I think you are a late entrant into a saturated market. Everything that you have indicated you plan to offer already exists, and nobody cares about BMW owner exclusivity. How do you enforce that? If I sell my 325i, do I get kicked out of the club?

People are already reluctant to give up their VIN #s, which, although available to anyone who wants to look at your car, are still capable of being used for ill purposes.

I wish you the best in your efforts, as does nothing for me to see you fail, but it is going to take a lot of time and expense to make it worthwhile. [cheers]

Regarding the VIN concern, if you want to verify ownership as a requirement, how about a photocopy of the registration and/or insurance papers, with the owner's option to black out part of the VIN. That way you can verify Name, address, model and the first 4 or 6 characters in the VIN.

VIN paranoia - When I picked up my Euro Delivery 330cic, we drove to Italy. At one point we parked in a public attended lot in Verona. The attendant walked over, looked at the car in appreciation (smile on his face), and then walked right up to the windshield and started reading the VIN!

I was trying to figure out what the f*&@# he was doing. I assume he was checking out the model year, but it made me wonder...
