I think Bush told them to go out to the desert and to not come back until they find some wmd's.

Maybe they'll be the next Oliver Norths who, while technically breaking the law, are praised by Republicans for their results?

I can't say. I really don't know.
The publicity has been going on and on.......
I just hope this doesn't bring same to our guys.
I want to say too much publicity, tone it down-the world is watching! But war is war/ boys will be boys. But -BUT!! if it were our guys in pics. I would be reaching for "the button" !!
It's getting dirtier and longer than we hoped it would.
Such a mess!

Court martial or if you're willing to let them salvage their military careers, then send them to Afghanistan or front lines in Fallujah.

I bet George is really pi$$ed off about it. The trust that Iraqi's will exhibit toward US soldiers will have been dealt a nasty blow with footage like that being aired around the world.

I take exception to that comment..........too broad a statement as a lot of us are Republicans and do not condone and are also appalled at the actions of some of the soldiers.........there are always a few people in every crowd, no matter what the situation is, that bring down the group as a whole.........BUT.....if you're looking for perfection anywhere in this world, you need to find another world.........

Well, the only thing that I can see really wrong about this, is that we went to iraq becuase saddam tortured his people -- now we're over there... torturing people. Dont say "they did it to us." If we werent over there, they wouldnt be doing it to us at ALL. (Dont say "well we should be over there becuase...." we honestly did NOT have to go over there... it was no iminent.)

Saddam killed and tortured 1000's of Iraqi citizens...........I repeat 1000's, multiples of 1000........there is no comparison to the US Military...........again, too broad a statement........

I said that becuase I knew exactly what the replies would be. But you missed the last part -- we did not absolutely have to be over there.

all of you know that i am not okay with the war and the reasons behind the US presence in iraq. but i am old enough, that war is not a question of moral, ethik and rules. there are rules, okay, but the winner takes it all. that is it everywhere. personally i do not really have a problem with what i saw. sure sure, it is not right, but why does the media/people react that surprised? it is war for god sakes! war is not playing marbles! it was so obvious and riht from the start it was clear that things like that happen. it was this way in every single war.

this is not to justify what the soldiers did. this is not to approve any kind of abuesing or torturing behaviour. this is just to tell that it is no surprise. and no, i do not minimize this to the US forces. any nation involved in a war will have their black sheep who does it. question is only if they are dumb enough to get caught

I would like to pose some more thoughts on this subject and then I'm heading out to the pool...... [headbang]

Maybe since I'm old and cynical I feel some of you are being really naive to life. Why are you so shocked about some of the abuse that has been projected all over the media? Do you really think that all persons of the military are above board? There have been accounts for years of military personnel murdering, raping, etc. and some of the events have happened in our own backyard. Then all of a sudden we are shown new events and the world is going completely ape. The simple point I am trying to make is, you hold all people regardless of position in life to consequences of their actions, but dont hold all people in such a high position that they cant fail and you become shocked and blinded from how life really is. Were you screaming all these years during the child molestation abuse performed by priests? Didnt you gain a little cynicalism that not all priests are perfect? Do we say, well if Little Johnny hadnt been at the church, this would not have happened. What about teachers, coaches, etc.? Is it their fault they wanted to play sports. What about foster families and the abuse that occurs. Open up your eyes to the actual world around you. You cant blame the military for the actions of some of the group and say well we shouldnt have been there. It seems that the basic core of life is that we are all human and mistakes happen every day with people that you hold in high esteem, but please, you punish those people that are guilty, not become outraged of the group who are good people, people who deserve our praise and people who deserve our help. You try to raise the caliber of all people in this world, but as they say, there's always a few rotten apples in the barrel that spoils the whole bunch. Maybe I'm beyond being shocked anymore, but I wish people would spend their time raising awareness to the issues at hand with your friends, family and business associates. If we raise awareness, maybe we can slow down the process before something actually shocks you.

Of course, just my humble opinion.

Hey where is the pool?

Seriously though I agree. Where is the outrage and charges now that Kerry admits he committed serious human violations in Vietnam? Why are we not holding hearings to find out who knew of his violations, when and what was done about it? The truth is that it is an election year and everybody is fighting for media attention. Sad but true!

Unfortunately for you Big Daddy, the pool is in my backyard........too far a drive me think....

I admit I was shocked over the Clinton scandal with the intern, I just didnt think we had sunk that low in behavior..........I'm not shocked about Kerry nor do I change my opinion of him......actually I have no opinion of him.......the same as Bush and his reserve time......it was a time of war, people do strange things that are not the norm for them......do I want all my transgressions in life to be published all over the world.........I only hope that I have learned from my mistakes and that what I have learned helps me to make better decisions and become a better person in the future. I"m out of here........well for a little while at least.....ha ha ha

i do not judge politicians for how they behave in their private life ( example clinton though it was not exactly privat, but certainly not political) or what they did in the past (if it was not murder). everybody, especially those in the public media and interest deserve their privacy. if tom dick and harry get a blowjob no one cares. if bill, i.e. tom dick harry and bill have a blowjob, bill gets a kick in the butt. just because he is president? no no no, it´s private life. no one shall care for what he does there.

that is valid for all, not only bill of course.
