Has anyone on this forum ever driven a Porsche (the way it's made to be driven)? What is the handling like? Is the engine position an advantage or disadvantage during high-performance driving? I've seen many races including Porsches and various other types of cars and the Porsches always seem to end up first.

Just wondering...

Never driven one, but constantly hear great things about them. I always hear people say that the Boxster S is one of the nicest-handling cars on the road. And I think one magazine described the Porsche 911 as the #1 car in the world...from everything I've read/heard/seen about Porsches, I'm inclined to agree with them and I hope in my future that I will be able to own a Porsche.

Same here, but I want to learn more about them. They have a huge history which I hardly know anything about. I went on their website and they have an extremely detailed configurator and description of every car. Too bad the cheapest one is around $50,000. I really want to drive one also, but I don't have any friends that own one. They're also the #1 rated in reliability and pretty much everything else. I read that on their site one of the reasons they're so reliable is they hot-dip galvanize the chassis so that it's corrosion-resistant. I also read about these ceramic brakes called PCCB which pretty much last as long as the car does and have better-than-Porsche-standard stopping power, and Porsche pretty much makes the best brakes in the world, so I've heard. I just want to know what it feels like to drive one.

Let's stick to Porsches, kthxbye.

One thing that bothers me about Porsches, though, is the amount of 911's and Boxster's I see in the Tiptronic Automatic!! I mean, COME ON !! It's a freaking Porsche...why do so many customers opt for Automatic nowadays? I even see a lot of 911 Turbo's in Automatic! [?|]

My buddy Brian let me drive him home in his 2003 911 when he got ********d at the Delahoya fight down here at the MGM Grand. We hit the onranp at Tropicana and I15 going roughly 120. At about four o'clock in the monin'! I would normally not partake in such a wreckless act but I believe that it was warantted. It's a damn quick car! It was pretty much a straight shot down the interstate (not enough curves to be tremendously fun). Having driven that car, I can't even fathom what the acceleration of something along the lines of the GT-2/3 or 959 is like.

They can be a real handful... if you do not know how to drive them

The older 911 (especially the turbo) was tail slap happy (go figure) and a few people got hurt driving them... if you know how to throttle steer... they are one of the finest handling creatures on the planet

on these cars ,it is easier to throttle steer than the e36 m3... dip the nos in, lift allow the rear to modulate... back on the gas... will take you around a turn like you would not believe!

I dont know if that's true for the new ones though, the engine is much lower and now they have some electronic stability program thats pretty much the same as the BMW and Mercedes'.

Does Porsche make diesel engines?

I already have... about two years ago. I didn't really get into the descriptions of whether the engine was a diesel or not. Best racing game ever made.

i have yet to drive a 911, but have read enough about them to feel like i am related to the car itself. Wadula knows what i'm talking about, we both want to live the 993 C4 dream.
