That’s why Microsoft releases Service Packs (i.e. SP1, SP2, SP3, etc...).

Most ATA controllers have their own BIOS like a SCSI controller, which are accessible only when a HD is connected to the controller. Check to see during bootup if there is a key combo (or look in the ATA controller manual) to enter into it's BIOS.

This controller's BIOS didn't have anything to set things like that up. Unfortunately, after I purchased the card I discovered that SIIG has no Tech Support phone number! [?|]

So after 3 days I finally get an email from their tech support saying to select SCSI in the motherboard BIOS to boot from the card. Needless to say, that dinna work. [mad]

Anyway, I took the SIG card back stating that there was no option to call tech support. Then I ordered a Promise Ultra ATA card today. Maybe it's BIOS will offer a better setup.

Sounds like your system board boots from the first ATA device it finds with a valid boot sector. Setting it to SCSI should have told the system bios to bypass the onboard ATA controllers. What system board do you have? There may be BIOS upgrade for it to help with this. If you can't get the system to boot from the add in card, would you settle for having one OS on the system board controller and one on the add-in card, using the multiboot option (boot.ini). I can help you get that setup. We'll make a backup boot floppy in case you get the OS really messed up.

Well, I started messing with XP. And there's at least twice as many updates for that than 2000. [V]

Things are progressing better with the Promise Card tho. But I still don't have it fully set up as yet.

IT'S ALIVE!

[clap]

I finally got the boot.ini file to recognize the drive connected to the ATA card. It must have been that SIIG card or I had my brain up my @ss. Or maybe a combination of both?

Thanks to all who assisted! [drinking]
