This thread has gotten ugly and some comments were completely out of line. There is nothing rice about owning a Mazda 6, people who automatically assume rice is referring to anything made from Japan is completely uninformed.

junglez...

I just don;t understand one thing... if they are such experts why don;t they get a better car in the first place.. and not some cheap %&#$ to mod to hell and than race? Good racing car has combinations of dozens of high-performance parts enduring stress to sustain stability and control... I do not think you can MOD Mazda Rx-7 enough to get what you expect out of it.

The guy in Question has a 1998 M3, a 2003 330ci, and had an E30 M3. He drives his Miata because it is cheaper to race. Besides the fact that his little suspension modded Miata will absolutely dominate corners. I have actually been in the thing when 490 hp M5's, and blown out M3's had to let him pass, until we got to a straight away. It is his toy, much like someone that owns a crotch rocket. If you don't believe me, check out the skidpad ratings on a Miata, and the add some for the new suspension.

I respect Miatas, they are true sports cars, while a riced Honda Civic is not. Miatas are not designed to be fast, they are designed to handle well, hence the term sports car. Lots of people think sports car means fast, but I think of something like a Miata is sportier then a 2500hp drag Camaro that corners worse than a 60mph refridgerator.

The Mazda 6 is a pretty nice ride from what I've heard from magazines and such, just that I wouldn't get one cause I have a 2nd bimmer in the purchasing crosshairs right now.

Whatever...

Like I have said in other threads, just because it is not BMW does not mean it is not a very good car. I happen to like the Mazda 6. It is a very nice looking car. I would love to own an early 90's model RX-7 (preferably twin turbo). I own a BMW, and 3 other Japanese vehicles, which I like very much. Like jungle stated, racing is cheaper in a Japanese car than it would be in a BMW. There is a hell of a lot of mod’s (non-ricer) for them that make them very very fun cars to drive.

So give Hitman a break, he has been a loyal poster here for a long time and has always contributed to our (BMW) world even though he hasn't owned one. That's one thing that sets this board (which is why I like it here over any other board) apart; anyone BMW owner or not can come here and post without the threat of being flamed. If we start now it make this board just like all others on the net.

Hitman congratulation s on your new Mazda 6 and don't let others sway your enthusiasm for your new car. Keep posting updates about it and know that others here (like myself) are interested in what you have to say about your car. [thumb]

P.S post some new pics a soon as you can.

Good choice Ben. Some of your comments are uncalled for and are better off not being said.

The ricer war is always a hot topic on this board. I have expressed my desire for restraint on many occasion. I don't consider myself a ricer, but I do love my japanese car.

I have a friend with a very nice 3rd Gen RX7. He also owns 3 BMWs. You can take the RX7 to 500 hp. before you start having problems. Not quite as flexible as a Supra. I know a guy who makes 736 hp. at the rear wheels.

I realize I may not be very hip in the car business, but I thought "ricer" meant modifying an American made car to look like an import..........because they don't have the money to buy an import, but by the time they modify the American made car, they could of afforded an import.........am I wrong???[???1] [???1]

I tend to think of rice as, any cheap car that has tasteless mods done to it. Such mods include 'euro' taillights, huge wings, body kits, crappy big wheels, fake xenons, colors all over the interior, and of course lots and lots of stickers. Oh yea I almost forgot about the fart-cans.

Can someone tell me why euro tailights are called euro? I thought they were introduced with the Toyota Altezza (aka Lexus IS300) in Japan.

get some interior shots of the car...... it looks similar to a bimmer (not really) but the RED dash lights and silver panels look kinda Hi-Tech. [:D]

HITMAN needs to become a bit more aware of his action also. Remember this HITMAN:

umm are you dum??

I did not respond to you because it is so beneath me to do so in such a context. This is not an isolated incident and I am far from the only person that you have chosen to address in such a manner, and it speaks volume about [one’s] character. Perhaps part of the hostility toward you choice of cars is founded in your past actions. Something to think about.
