if someone could spare another, I have a bud who wants one. I just got my own accts and I guess I don't have invites to give out yet.

I dunno if it will get through our spam filter, but try shooting one to him if ya don't mind?

I sent the invite. I used Section as the first name and 8 as the last. Let me know if it goes. I sent it to the email listed...

dying to get rid of some here [:p]

altho, the whole gmail scanning your email to target ads on the side, is pretty creepy.

I pump it through outlook so I never see the website and ads. If you already have pop3 mail with your provider (dsl/cable) and get mail in outlook (and thus into the main 'Inbox' folder), just setup a rule to forward your gmail to a folder when it has your full gmail mail address in the to or cc: lines, rename the folder Gmail or whatever you like, and it's done.

well that wasn't my point. my point was that the system scans your email to get the "targeted ads" which can get a bit creepy. getting the ads on the side is a secondary point.

ahh I see. I stopped using email for really private information along time ago, everyone scans email to some extent (ISP, the Gov, all the external 'free' mails, etc) , and it's fairly easy to sniff packets from neighbors on your own ISP - nothing is sacred and secret these days unless you literally tell someone face to face - or encrypt it (I suggest PGP).

Big brother is already watching - most of the time.

Err, it was 1984 - yep I read it, it was just 20-30 years before it's time (imho).
