Funny TireRack Mistake

Hey,

I received my new set of tires from TireRack today. Easy order and fast shipping and they got 3 out of 4 tires right, but they missed the fourth one by a MILE. I should have another 225/45-18 tire but they sent me a HUMMER tire instead. I'm not trying to burn TireRack here, but the mistake is just so weird and funny. Checkout the pictures and laugh...[hihi]

Thanks,
MrElussive

Hahahahah nice tom... i bet his car would drive wonderfully with 3 high performance tires and one suv offroad tire [rofl]

I think thats one of the funniest things i've seen.

Got the tires on today. For some reason, they look juicier than the Pilot Sports, as if they have thicker profile or something, but they're the same exact size. Maybe because the Pilot Sports were worn down so they looked thinner? I will post pics ASAP.

Either way, I went for a bit of a drive today to break in the tires. My steering response came back, there is much less tramline effect, and the tires stick better, all factors of having a brand-new set of tires. The tires seem to ride smoother (perhaps due to the thickness), but they are a bit noisier. The grip is impressive so far and they seem more predictable than the Pilot Sports, but I think these tires are heavier.

They look good man...but you need wider rubber on the rear.
I know what you mean, the picture makes it look that way. I stuck with stock sizes, the rears look wider in person than they do in that picture....it was just the angle but I would rather see 255's on the rear of the G instead of 245's.

Let us know in a few weeks what you think of the tires. They look like the new BFG TA series that have been out not too long? I've heard some good things about these tires.

Yup, the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2. 245/45-18 in the rear and 225/45-18 in the front, 91Y load and speed rating all around. Once the tires fully break in I'll be able to make better comments but in the meantime I am having such a great time simply because the Pilot Sports I previously had on were so worn down.

One thing that is weird to me about these tires is that they look CHUBBIER than the Pilot Sports, as if it were thicker profile. The tires ride a bit smoother smoother but are more bouncy over smaller bumps so I don't think it's just my eyes but I don't understand why the tires would be juicier than the Pilot Sports if I stuck with completely stock sizes.

Different rubber compounds make the rubber look plumper. I have seen this before when I have compared tires side by side, both the same size, two different brands. It is easier to believe once you see it in person.
