I heard Southerners conduct business slowly and that they're not used to the fast pace of NYC. And that they all stop working at like 4PM to go play golf. Any Southerners wanna give me a more accurate view on this?

We do everything slower down here, cause it's so damn hot! [:D] Step outside for 1 minute and just stand in place, you will bead with sweat.. Bring your oxygen tanks and scuba gear with you to the south in Summer.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure that's why you guys and gals walk so quick - to get the heck outta the cold! That's how we spot northerner's in downtown Atlanta, they almost look like they are sprinting. (and look like they just jumped into a pool)

Now the train rides.. I think our trains are more menacing at times than NY's, and I have ridden a few tunnels up there. I had fun when I visited NY, I caught the city during it's clean season (Christmas), and it was snowing. Good times.

Stopping work at 4pm sounds like any business man in a position to do whatever he wants. The other 99.5% of us work the same dreary days you do. [:(]

MrE - I'm a transplanted yankee of sorts. My family (Dad and Mom's side) are both from NJ; Paterson to be precise (before it turned to crap). We moved to Fla when I was 2, I moved to the ATL when I was 25 ('97) so I'm like a undercover of sorts.. See, I had to discover sweet tea on my own, because it was not to be found in my household.. I have to admit. The summer after high school I went to Texas with some friends and we were up late drinking and b.s.ing when, for whatever reason we all paused and his female cousin whispers in the window ‘ y’all sleep? ’ Maybe it was a combination of not being used to it, drinking and because she looked so good, but that voice, man you talk about sweet. Her voice and accent were sugar and honey filled deliciousness.

How could anyone who comes from Memphis call any city a shithole. Tenn. is a beautiful state and Nashville is one great place. But MEMPHIS? It's a slum. By, the way, how's the king doing? [rofl]

dont know how long its been since you were here, but the entire downtown has some renovation going on. talking to a few memphians recently, they say its done a 180 in the past 8-5 years. now with the grizzlies and the fedex forum (downtown stadium) and a number of nationally noted bars and resturants, the king, looks to me like it will progress to side-show status.

Hey Noodle, have you been to one of the local BMW meets before? (Are you over on b.f.c. too?) Lots of folks come up for the meet from Athens. Stop by Athens BMW and talk to Geordie, he heads up the GA meets and mtn drives. [:)]
Thanks for the heads up Section 8....I'll have to check that out.

I was not imitating a southern accent. I was imitating a Boston accent (maybe a slight Mainah accent in there [hihi] ) I luckily missed picking up the Bostonian accent but my brother got it. If you were with me at the Oxford drag strip in ME this weekend you would have been able to listening to a true Mainah[main-ah] announcing the times.... [cheers]
