What will your next car be? I'm not asking for responses like an Enzo or anything like that, I'm talking about what you are seriously planning to get.

I was planning to get a E34 535i, but I decided that I'll wait on the purchase and buy an E34 M5 instead. There's just something about the E34 M5 that makes me feel good.[^]

Something exactly like this...

Thats an awesome buy, down the line I would like to get an M5 as well. In the close future I might get an RX8 as a commuter car.

4 to 5 years from now - M4 or Z4/M Roadster if they build it. Hehe - Unless I wind up going after the Lemon Law on my Sliptronic problem - in that case I may just upgrade to an M3.

you know, i have no idea... i have this project 325i and a minivan that isnt even mine.
i dont have any carpayments currently so im thinking i might look at something in the next 5 years depending on my job status.
i keep throwing aroung the idea of a Hummer wagon rag top in black (used), Audi S4, VW Touareg, Mercedes C32, ... and who knows how my mind will change in the future, but those are the cars that fancy me atm.
what do you think of the selection?

You are one lucky guy, speed wise how does it compare to the E30? I know it's faster, but by how much?[thumb]

That is such a hard question to answer. As much as I would like to get a BMW I think I would be more like 80% Audi and 20% BMW if I made the decision now. But this may change depending on the performance of my car in the future.

There are a number of BMW’s on my street between residents and visitors and my little survey indicates that I am sure not alone in my opinion. I am afraid to drive my car too far because I am afraid I may get stuck somewhere and I am not alone when it comes to this fear.

I hope things change with BMW; I would like another but can’t throw money around either, I need some value in return.

But my car is fun, I would just never, never ,never drive the thing to Calif, AZ, or any or the surrounding states, it sucks a bit to have a $43,000.00 around town car.

Wow. I can't believe no one said an 850Ci!!! An M5 is nice but I don't think any other BMW compares to the 850. It's such an awesome looking car, very rare and very powerful. Also, the price doesn't even come close to that of an M5 for a used 8-series.

Hopefully I will be getting an OBD-I e36 M3 before next summer. But hopefully after saving for a few more years I'll have enough to get an 850Ci. Also, I really like the looks of the e30 325iX. I think a good substitute to an e36 M3 would be an e30 325iX with an M3 motor in it.

Speaking of dropping engines in E30s. My plan is, after I buy an M5, I'll purchase an S52 complete with tranny. I'd drop that into my E30, and I could take as long as necessary because I'd have a second car. I think I'll leave the M5 completely stock and take my modding urges out on my poor little 325is.[}:)]

I remember reading somewhere that a 1991 M5 does 0-60 in around 5.5 seconds, compared to my current 7.4 thats quite a jump. As for price, I've seen them down as low as 10k, but that was a while back. Since then the lowest I've seen was around 12k.

Don't quote me on the speed of the M5.

I would like to chime in on this one but I can't really say what I want like 3 years from now. What I do know is that it has to look great, has to handle well, has to do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds or faster (I have become addicted to the speed), and it probably has to be AWD, and it has to be luxurious inside and out. That's all I can say for now.

owners describe the speed like this:

between 40 and 120 nothing will touch it this side of a porsche.

thats all i can say. 0-60 is 5.5ish but thats not impressive. you can stick it in 4th at 70Mph and just put your foot down and within like 20secs your doing 140Mph!!! i have raced the M5 around town in my E30 and it doesn't get away that easily until you hit a long straight. (he spun the wheels for about 20feet and there 255's [;)] ) the handling is supurb and like described on TOP GEAR by the short one [:D] it is just a racing car with a 4 door sedan shell[thumb] definatly worth a go but you will fall in love with it[;)]
