I am sure that everyone is aware or the new terrorism threat. Will this effect your plans for summer travel and activities?

Having experienced the workings of a terrorism “think-tank” from the inside, I tend to give them high marks for credibility regardless of the administration under which they were contracted. Recently, such a group reported that al-Qaida ranks are swelling worldwide. AP In addition, there has been talk about the acquisition of chemical and nuclear weapons to be used in such an attach. Combine this with the “most disturbing” information since 9/11 makes for a scary situation I think. SanMateo

I hate to give in to terrorist threats but at the same time I think it is irresponsible of me to subject my children to any known potential risk. We have several vacations planned and I am very concerned. I have reservations for 5 days July 4th week at a Disney World hotel for the first part of our vacation. I also have reservations for four days this weekend.

I am still about 50/50 on canceling and choosing another location, say the Caribbean or Canada.

So are any of you rethinking plans?

of course not. i will never let terrorism impact where i go and what i do.

not to say i'm a super hero of any sort, and this is kind of hard to word out, but i would rather have me, or someone who will take action, be in a position to to get in the way of a terrorist rather than someone who would simly cowar away. that sentence was horrible sorry. but ya know what i mean?

allowing fear to dictate what we do is not the right way to go about our business, that may come off as USA-bred-arrogance, but come on. a single task force is not giong to stop terrorism, but a society that isn't afraid to put a little on the line to prevent evil will.

Bryan you have an awesome point, keep your children safe!

gosh this is hard to word out, and it makes me sound very arrogant, but....

i will edit this later, when i can sort my words out.

I agree that you have to protect your kids, but you can't live in a bubble either. I really think that if terrorists attack, there is not much we can do about it, especially since they don't seem to give a rat's a$$ about their own life.

That being said, there are no changes in my vacation plans. Though I would reconsider if my plans included going any paticular hot spots in the world such as the middle east. [paranoid]

I don't think I would worry too much about Disney World though.

I won't change my plans, like frolf said, we cannot let terrorists change our lifestyle. With that said, along with Bryan, I do have a concern for my children that I have thought about more than once. My 16 y.o. daughter will be spending 10 days in July in Washington DC. So yeah, it makes me think, but I probably won't change the plans unless there is more specific information.

Not even a little bit. I hate to be mordid, but my chances of dying in a car wreck on my way to New England this summer are far greater than my chances of dying in a terrorist incident when I get there. [target]

I"m traveling to Korea and Singapore the end of July. It does make me think, but it doesnt change continuing on with my job. For the fact that I travel alone, I'm more nervous of the individuals that pass my way than a terrorist attack. This applies to traveling anywhere in the US or overseas, crossing paths with some sicko..........

I agree we still need to live our lives. I am just afraid they may hit targets that are less obvious for time and place. The conventions and monument openings seem like too narrow of a window during which time there is a lot of security. These animals seem to have a profile that fits more of a complete surprise and totally unexpected time and place.

My wife is still so uneasy that I hate to push the issue. We decided to drive to Newport Beach on Friday and I scheduled 2 appointments with Toyota dealers on Monday and Tuesday to trade our Expedition for a Sienna. July 4th is still up in the air, there is something about the combination of the number of people that go to Disney World for July 4th and the holiday combined with the threat. Oh well, I guess we have time to decide.

Good points about living life and I agree, there is just an uneasy feeling now. I remember Clinton saying not if but when yet I still walked the streets of DC almost indifferent; I guess seeing is believing.

But I ask myself; “how dangerous is driving on Las Vegas streets” and this puts real danger in perspective.
