Does anybody know how many tickets (on average) a good BMW driver gets without sky-rocketing their insurance rates or having their license suspended and such? I am new to this whole ticket business and not sure how "everyday" it is. And is it true that they might not even show up on your insurance statement and expire in 3 years?

Thanx. [thumb]

I know that in Illinois, as long as you go to the court hearing, they will put you on supervision and the tickets dont go on your record. If you do something real stupid, you might have to take driving school. I know from personal experience that the state is willing to suspend your license after 3 tickets in a year.

Does the "year" count is an official year (2003, 2004).. or the 365 day period from the first ticket to the last? Anybody know?... any retired policemen here? [hihi]

A good BMW driver shouldn't get any tickets at all, because if you are a good driver you don't speed in the areas where the cops are and you see everything around you before it even happens. I know this guy who speeds all the time, he also gets tickets all the time and got his license suspended a few times, another guy who speeds all the time just like the first one didn't get one ticket for speeding (neither one has a radar detector or anything like that). In order to be a good driver, you also have to be a smart driver. Push, I'm not trying to say that you are a bad driver because you got that ticket just that you shouldn't do stupid things like that and then you can have fun without paying much for it and not having to worry about the points. Relax, it all comes with experience, after a few more tickets you'll get the hang of it if you try.

A year is typically counted as 365 days from teh date of one ticket. Whether it shows up or not depends on the court system (some do this probation thingy) or whether your insurance company cares or not. Mine lets me have one freebie, but then they skyrocket the rates if I get another.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, happened to me a few times. Once I got distracted by someone in the car and blew a red light, good thing there were no cops around. This guy I know (drives a Honda Accord I think) was going about 30mph, saw a girl that he knows on the street, slammed on the brakes and when he slowed down to about 10-15 mph, he shifted it into Park (he thought he stopped already). He said the made this really wierd and loud noise. My guess is that his wheels stopped completely but I don't know, I wasn't there. After he finally stopped, he realised it was some other chick. Maybe he's lying but it was really funny when he told me the storry, I just couldn't stop laughing for a minute or so.
