I'm looking for a new web host for my website... I am currently getting hosting for free from a prevoius member of bmwboard - "Raiyu". He's helped me out a lot, but I would like to go with something that will be a little faster so I can try to expand my site.

I signed up with "dot5hosting.com" but their service is absolutely hilariously bad.

I'm looking for a web host with at least 500mb storage and 10 - 20gb/month transfer with php, mysql and all the goodies - but has to have good reliability and speeds. I don't want to pay more than $15 a month - I know I could find this kind of hosting for that.

There are just so many wack hosts out there... its hard to find someone reliable.

Any and all help is appreciated!!!

We use 800hosting.com and ThePlanet.com here and so far they've been great, at the same time we have dedicated servers so it's a different story.

I just did a tracert on dot5hosting.com and the hops seemed very slow. Try ipowerweb.com, my friend uses them for his personal site and it's pretty reliable. But it's going to be hard to get good and fast reliable hosting for that price. Cheaper prices usually mean more customers and you're going to end up experiencing the same bottleneck issues.

Yea that's the problem I'm having with Raiyu's servers. I went to upload my database backups to dot5 lastnight before I decided to cancel my account with them - and I would time out during the uploads. Their customer service was a joke too (I was laughing). Until after I find a car, I think I might host it from home (just upgrade my personal cable account to a business account), and then look at 800hosting.com... $1000 a year is not bad at all for a dedicated lower bandwidth server.

Eric, I use Hostway (Http://www.hostway.com/ for my personal web site and they are pretty good. I don't think they have the best prices, but they have become much more competitive lately. I have been with them for over 2 years and I have never even experienced a hiccup from them, their transfer rates are good, and their services are good, so Hostway is definitely on my good side and I would recommend them to anyone.

You have experience with either of these?
i used to host my own site through Future Point, a very proffesional company that i would give an A+ rating, i could e-mail them and would get a e-mail back from a very knowledgable person who could answer my questions, there are better plans out their then what they offer but they do have good service.
Entity Hosting is the company that hosts a gaming site that i belong to ( www.thefinalstand.com ) and we are a very very high traffic site with lots of coding and use of a lot they have to offer, the site is up 100% i have checked it and i check it about 6-12+ times a day and a very good company to work with

Both companies are good
