Wanted: silver BMW with pink interior
By Steve Holland
Police are looking for a silver convertible BMW with its interior covered in pink or red security dye after being involved in a botched robbery last week.
The robbery took place in the car park of wholesalers Costco in Hartspring Lane, Bushey, at 3.45pm on Friday when a man grabbed a deposit box from a security driver as he was placing it in the back of a security van.
The offender then ran off towards the A41 and got into a silver BMW, which was driven away at speed by another man.
When the men tried to open the box, it released the red or pink security dye as it travelled through Borehamwood.
Detective Sergeant Ian Butler, from the Central Area Crime Unit, said: "Smoke or dye was pouring from the car in Borehamwood some time later as it was seen driving along.
"The cash box was recovered in a side road off Radlett Lane, Shenley. The anti-theft system had been activated which would have sprayed pink dye over the case, offenders and car. The contents of the box were also destroyed by the anti-theft device."
He added: "Have you seen a BMW with pink or red dye inside? Is it parked in your road? Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the car or recognises the offenders is asked to contact us."
Anyone with any information can call Det Sgt Butler on 01707 638229 or the crime desk on 01707 638102.
