I'm a little surprised by this, but I havn't been following the case very closely - just the little news blurbs that we get. I would have thought that he would have been sentenced to life due to a lack of physical evidence.

I'm glad justice was served though.

Thats what I was thinking.

At first I was sure he did it, then I started to really question why so many things could take place, and with all the police and forensic resources, the prosecution could not put on a stronger case. This is what starting me to question if he actually did the crime, although I am still more convinced that he is guilty than not guilty, at about 75-25. The case by the prosecution actually caused me more doubt, I was about 99% sure prior to the actual case.

death aint easy man. just put it into perspective. yes their minds are messed up, but they dont want to die. plus, its cheaper. we waste so much money on death row. give them one appeal and then the needle.

if there is ANY SHRED of evidence that you killed any member of your family, especially your wife or child, then you are a sick person and should be put in jail if not to death.

I was watching CNN and they stated CA's execution rate is so slow that he will mostly likely spend the rest of his life in jail.

Yeah, in California, death row and life in prison is just a matter of semantics. Just costs more for death. Makes the public feel better tho.

After the OJ trial, just cuz the prosecution put on a bad trial won't change my opinion much. OJ was about as guilty as can be IMO, yet he got off (in part, due to the prosecution's job). Here, there were just waaaaay too many circumstantial things against Peterson for me to have any reasonable doubt.

LOL. Say that to the hundred or so people on death row who have been found completely innocent with the new DNA testing!

I haven't followed the Peterson deal at all, so I don't have much of an opinion. But I don't think now California killing him is the Christian thing to do.

I say fry the son of a bitch..............twice..............if that's possible............I have read every article that I could find on this crime, his trial, his prosecution and his verdict..........when I get to heaven, I'll be sure and ask God about OJ and Scott Peterson and then decide if it was the Christian thing to do............. Sounds like the devil in you speaking! (I thought the media can't be trusted. Some serious blood-letting is going on down there in TX.)

LOL. [:D] [:D] [cheers]

I think life in prison is the best. Just trapped in a cage for the rest of your life. I guess I just see that as worse than death because you're either dead (where your existance is just OVER and you obviously can't care about that) or you're stuck in a shithole for the rest of your pathetic life.

That's the hard part, we kill so many that did nothing. I cant even count how many bad and false prosecutions we have had resolved in the last while.

But at the same time we cant really set aside the death penalty because too many Americans love violence, death and war; it's what keeps them going and gives their life excitement and meaning. Almost doesn't even matter the basis. Think about it.

When we were on the political discussions some of us had a purpose and status because we stated we were Republicans, now you say we get excitement and meaning to our lives because we believe in the death penalty. Is there anything else that I can believe in to give my life some meaning and a purpose, if you hear of anything else, let me know, dont want to be left off the bandwagon.

What happened to open discussions on this board, is it really that hard to accept other people's opinions or beliefs without you feeling that there is a deficit somewhere within them? [???1]

Ever wonder why or even what makes us (as human beings) enjoy a sense of revenge?

Is there something 'sinister' within nature (and thusly 'sinister' within all things in nature; i.e. human beings) that Christianity (and other religions) attempt to warn people against?

Hmmmmm

Oh brother, sorry I made this post!
It's not a bad post or a bad reply.

The pressure to get cases resolved fast does not always get the guilty party, this is a troubling fact. It’s like too many people just want someone to hang yesterday for every crime and this is just not possible.

And if someone does not get immediate satisfaction for any dispute, they just seek their own justice, or at least this seems like the movement over the last 30-40 years.

Yep, for all the 'change' thats taken place in humans - we are still basically animals, with strong instincts. Our 'inner brain' is timeless and very barbaric, it thinks about things like protection, danger, comfort, nourishment, basically instinctal things to keep you alive. The 'outer brain' which has been said to have developed in the past 50,000 years or so (however you decide to 'count' time), is the part that we think of as 'us' - our thoughts on who we are, what our senses take in, and our mental processes to comprehend it. ('I saw you yesterday at the mall' is all an outer brain process - how you relate that person to you[friendly/bad/run away/submit/seek mate]) is again the inner brain. The thing is, that 'inner' part ticks to it's own clock, and still has a say in what you do in life, even though our outer brain (us) rarely makes the connection.

Just something I was reading the other day - anyone wants details I'll shoot you the name of the book and author. (it's upstairs in the bedroom)

But back on topic - I say life in prison. I think almost 100% he did it, but there is not physical proof (unless they didn't talk about it online, the news, etc) such as DNA, some luckily captured video, what have you. My gut says alot of things (that inner brain ticking!), but without proof, I could not commit someone to death. With proof, I'd have a hard time of it but would feel death deserved - I can't imagine being in Laci's family's position. If I knew nothing about him or his case, but was presented with some of the video footage we've all seen on TV, of him in court - I'd say (inner brain here) he's guilty as can be, no remorse, other than he was caught. The way he moves, looks at people, his manner.. All of an animal held captive for something it knows it shouldn't have done..
