Take a look at this new traffic control device invented by the Swiss. Although he can't give you a ticket, he can certainly give you a start! Motorists at first think they're being flagged to slow down at construction sites. Only when they pass close by the motorized dummy do they finally realize they've been fooled. Even after you know the trick, these mechanical flagmen, dressed in bright neon orange, still manage to get your attention with a constantly waving arm.

Funny but annoying. I would end up picking up a baseball bat and giving that fake dude an early retirement.

I know several agencies who park patrol cars in high accident areas during the day and remove them at night. Some even go so far as putting a "dummy" in the driver's seat. I knew one that did that for a week than put a real cop there in his crusier and he wrote tickets all day... oops!

Yup! My friend's dad (local sergent) said a few departments really do that.

Here in NC, the State Highway Patrol parks Crown Vics off the edge of the interstate that have solar panels mounted on the trunks to operate their LED light bars!

It slows people down, but it also ends up causing a bunch of congestion.

Hahahah that's awesome.

The best thing is the construction companies on some of the major PA highways use radar transmitters to fool people with radar detectors into slowing down - same with the empty police cars!

A gas station near my home is in a really high traffic road where people like to go too fast and cause wrecks bought an old po-po and keeps it around there in different places. Sometimes it's in a parking space like the cop's in the store, sometimes it's out by the street to slow people down.
