Snow Goggles recommendations needed

Just went skiing. It was awesome. After an unfortunate trip to Lake Tahoe with inadequate equipment, I've learned the value of proper ski equipment. This past weekend told me it's time to look for some goggles (sunglasses aren't cutting it no more). Apparently, a bunch of you are skiers/snowboarders. Got any recommendations for a newb?

What brands are good? What brands to avoid? What features to look for? Any recommended shops/online sites? TIA.

get a snowboard!!

w/ such a dinky landfills we call snow slope, goggles just aren't necessary..

more often than not, you buy the brand, not the performance of a snow goggle. (unless you sit at the top of the line) i'm sure there are some differences, but it's not a new tech.. you just need one that's comfy and won't fog up on you.

Get a good pair of Oakley's. That's what I have and they are great. I have ones I can change out the lens. I have a mirror tint on right now, but if needed on cloudy days out I can change the lens to a clear or yellow (like shooting glasses) and helps with glare, but does not darken when cloudy.

There are other very very good brands, but I love my Oakley’s.

P.S. A lot of the goggle will fog, however you can buy stuff to put on the lens to help from fogging up....

I have SMITH goggles. They are comfortable and do a good job. The key to the anti-fog feature that many goggles offer is simply a dual-layer material.

Oakley's are quite good, in fact we used to get them through a group order with police departments across the country (super low prices), but retail can be very spendy. Smith's (no relation) are also good and less expensive. I believe Costco was selling Smith's for a while.

Smith's are good. I use to have a pair. Now days you really can't go wrong with what ever you decide to buy. I do like the interchangeable lens feature some (like mine) have. Now days when purchasing a pair you would be happy with it is best to look for Style, fit, and/or color combo since most are made of decent quality....

don't get Oak's, they are way over priced for the quality. Smith makes great goggles, and yeah, don't sell out, stick to the Skis like me.

frolf, that is a great photo. I am hoping to get some really nice pictures when I head over to Vail at the end of the month. I am also hoping to get a DV Camcorder for Christmas, in which case I'll take video of my brother and me tearing down the bowls...

As far as Oakleys, I find them to be overly expensive as well, but lots of people like to pay for the name and the styling. If you can justify its price, go for it. If not, SMITH or most other major brand names out on the market are very reliable. It's hard to choose a "bad" pair of goggles nowadays.

Oh yeah, and skiing RULES.

I've had Carrera googles for years. Great quality, double lens, plenty of options.

nice site, but i have to wait to load w/ every selection.. it's hard to tell what's good w/out trying em on..

if you plan on night and day ski/snowboarding, spring for ones w/ interchangeable lens. as for oaks, like many things you pay for the brand name, and only time i've seen them on sale, is when they close out a model. if you know of a good sale, let us know [;)]

I have Spy goggles. They are not very expensive, and have been awesome for three seasons. This season will be the fourth, and they are still in excellent working condition.

Take pics. Please. I've always meant to go down, particularly when I was at UCI, but never got around to it.
