Hell yeah...so true.
Now I more see those white stickers with the simple 'W' on them. They sent those out after the election as some sort of a "we are the champions" campaign. Jeez, it's over by a thousand or so votes in Ohio...let's move past the party and personality nonsense and get back to the people's business. Surely, these politicians have something better to do than send out bumper stickers?!?
Just a sign of our society. Bumper stickers are big propaganda tools during the actual time before the voting process. This is the first time I can recall 'victory' bumper stickers. (But then again I'm only 32, my memory of presidential elections only spans from Nixon/Ford to the present).
And yes, for a fairly unpopular president, (IE: contraversal first vote, extremely close 2nd vote, and terrible approval rating..) you'd think a 'quiet' method of celebration or appreciation to your supporters would be better than a 'I won' sticker.... I mean come on, there was a biiiig hoopla the first time he got 'voted' in, and then it was extremely close 'again' this time.. I'm all for getting over it and supporting the man leading our country. I didn't vote for him, but he's the man, he gets my support for now, and I'm over it..
But.. WTF is going through your mind putting a 'victory' bumper sticker on your car over a presidential vote! That's like a direct rub in the face that 'your guy lost, my guy won'. The presidential vote isn't a ******g football game "We're #1!!".. It's for the right to lead the entire country (The folks that voted for you - and those that did not). The White W 'win' stickers make me think that every one with it on, is thumbing their nose at everyone that didn't vote 'their way', or just have to get their rocks off, that 'they were right' or whatever is going through their heads. Folks it isn't a damn sport!! Your vote MEANT something, if you want to turn that vote into a snub.. To think it ISN'T a snub is to be a HYPOCRITE. If Kerry had won, and if there had been some sort of 'I win' sticker from Kerry.. It'd be republicans, and other folks that didn't vote for Kerry feeling slighted or snubbed, and saying what I am now. The folks with the 'bush hating' stickers are just as bad as the 'W' stickers, OK? Sometimes sharing your mind isn't as good an idea as STFU is in certain circumstances.
It's like having a Gator sticker on your car, coming to Tallahassee to see your gators play the Seminoles. No real big deal, hey you're proud of your team (hey you're proud of who you voted for). Don't be upset if some moron flattens your tire.. (Certainly not saying thats ok - it ISN'T, but not everyone is 'ok' in the head, right?) Now imagine if you'd come to the game, rooted for your team and simply went about your business w/o telling the whole world through that bumper sticker? Putting that sticker out there for everyone to see is like saying on a loudspeaker HERE IS WHAT I THINK. You're GOING to find folks that disagree, and now you'll draw their attention blatantly.. (Sorry for the in-state rivalry comparison, GA/GA Tech, Michigan/Michigan State, so on and so forth..)
If you read this and all you can say is - you're full of it, or that's BS, screw you, or 'too bad you lost, you're just upset' or 'sour grapes'.. Then YOU'RE the careless, thoughtless person I wrote this for. Grow up and take responsibility for your actions.. Yes, even a silly 'bumper sticker'.
I'd be saying the same thing to any Kerry supporter who would have flown a 'I win' sticka for Kerry as well. Quote me on that for 2008.
Bring on the flame throwers..
