This is very sad indeed. These things can happen almost anywhere and places like the Northwest United States, and I would guess the West Coast in general, are particularly vulnerable from what I understand from by brief reading about Tsunamis. We all need to help when things like this happen.

80,000 as of yet....India has quit counting its dead now.....Said that they needed to concentrate on the survivors. Makes perfect sense to me. God bless them all in this time of disaster

69,000 and counting, wait until disease sets in..

The children are the ones I grieve for most, the ones that didn't survive, and the ones that did, but now have no family. Can you imagine mass pyre's of bodies burning in the streets of New York if this had happened in the Northeast??

Wow....the toll keeps rising. Yesterday, Bush came out of his ranch finally and said America might be able to help. I sent $100 to the international red cross....just in time for a last minute 2004 tax deduction.

A co-worker of my wife is visiting his girlfriend's family in Thailand. There were some tense days at the hospital as no one had heard from him. They got an EMail from him today saying that they were safe, they are apparently inland far enough that they are not affected. But he said the entire country is in shock, similar to how the US was on 9/11.
