Osama Bin Laden's Message - Coded Message or effort to Influence the Election?

You probably know that Bin Laden popped up in a video that has been determined authentic and recently made. The question is:
- Was he just trying to influence the election?
- Does he want Bush out?
- Will it affect the vote in any meaningful way?

OR - Was it a coded message to operatives already in place? Are we in for a surprise in the next couple of days? If you think so, what would it be? In the US or abroad?

Personally, it would not surprise me if something DID happen in the next few days...

Lucky for you, I doubt that a Houston to OKC flight would be a prime target.

I just finish a 5 leg, total of 7,500 air miles trip the week before last. As far as I know right now, I'm on the ground until January.

I realize that all airports are not the same, but for somebody who flies quite frequently, I feel safe at the airports. I'm a member of almost every frequent flyer program known to the world and I am constantly pulled over for extra security, my check in bags are searched, as well as my carry on bags. I go shoeless, beltless, coatless, but that damn underwire gets em every time. I'm even denied curbside check in most days.

My biggest problem is the airlines only letting me check in two bags now. I need three small bags. My three small bags would equal the size of the monstrous suitcases people are carrying these days. I'm being discriminated against because females should get three bags instead of two. After lifting those damn bags into my car, out of my car, onto the transportation bus, off of the transportation bus, load onto the conveyor, I have pulled muscles in each shoulder.

Actually, I was down your way but only for about 24 hours. The first part was pretty mundane, but I ended the trip with 7 days near West Palm Beach, FL.

Itinerary - all business, unfortunately:
Philadelphia -> Los Angeles - drove to Tipton, CA in the San Joachin Valley (boring - cows, fruits and vegetables for scenery!)
Los Angeles -> Denver -> Dallas Fort Worth for 1 Day
DFW -> Philadelphia for 1 day
Philadelphia -> West Palm and then back home

Got to see the aftermath of the hurricane. What a mess!

You'd think conservative muslims would be speaking out more about the abuse of their religion. If some nuthead were saying all that sorta stuff in America, trying to use his rhetoric to inspire a christian 'crusade', to go bomb people.. He'd have more FBI in his yard crawling around than in Waco..

More likely it's just our new gatherers not telling the whole tale I guess. Doesn't sell papers or time slots to hear that 'most' Muslims don't support this madman..

My bro-in-law is Muslim (egyptian/saudi parents). As he tells it to me, these people(Osama, and his 'gang') are trying to use some of the more 'outlandish', old customs of Muslim religion to bring in the poor, the disinfranchaised youth, and the outright bastards, to their 'side'. Which works well, as much of the Middle east is still 3rd world, or monarchy driven (IE: 90% or more are the poor, working class, the other 10% own multiple Bentleys..). He said the seperation is about like that, there is no real 'middle' class, in Egypt, or Saudi. (His family would be considered 'middle' class there probably, but here they could retire for life..)

I can't blame poor young kids for being led astray by Osama - look at our own country, how many poor children are still 'left behind', still looking up to drug pushers, thieves, driving fancy cars, with $$$ falling out of their pockets.


We should be fixing our own problems, before we go telling others how to fix theirs.

Funny, the news here stated that there was nothing in the message to indicate if Osama was pushing for one side or the other (or it could be ny post pushing for Kerry).
