For you computer nerds out there. I tried posting this same question on some actual computer help forums, and nobody responded. I just built my computer and tried to load up Red Hat Linux OS on it. Thats not the operateing system i want but will have to do untill i get enough money to buy Windows XP. Anyways, linux loaded successfully and the computer restarted like normal. But then a "Checking DMI Pool" came up at the end of a hardware and device list. And it just stayed in that one spot. any suggestions for fixing this problem?

Since Linux installed correctly, you know that the hard drive is functional. The DMI message isn't an error, it's really the last successful message displayed before the system tries to boot from hard drive.

A few things you can try:
- Is the hard drive first in boot sequence in BIOS?
- Can you boot from floppy?
- Can you boot from CD?

If all of the above are yes, and you can't boot, it is probably something wrong with the master boot record. No easy fixes, try reinstalling.

I already re-installed it, and did all of that other stuff. Nothing seems to be working. I'll just wait untill i can round up a copy of Windows XP.
