Police: Racing May Have Contributed To 4-Car Pileup
OMAHA, Neb. -- Officers said the incident started near 72nd Street and Ames Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. A car headed east on Ames was driving fast and cutting in and out of lanes, police said. The car apparently cut off a BMW, then both vehicles sped up.Near 63rd Street and Ames, a white Buick Skylark with five people inside was pulling into traffic and was struck by one of the racing cars. Four cars were eventually involved in the pileup.Miguel Enriquez, 18, and Alfredo Salinas, 18, were ejected from the back seat of the Skylark. Another backseat passenger, Juan Hernandez, was pinned. Police said Hernandez and Enriquez are in very critical condition.No arrests have been made so far, and police continue to investigate. Police at first said it is a possible case of road rage, but now believe the two parties may have known each other and decided to street race.
