I am behind the times as you all know....my wife and I just purchased 2 ,128mb MP3 players......I was under the impression that these held like 4 hours of music. I uploaded 16 songs andnow it says it if full. Whats up? Am I missing a way to compress files or what?

128mb is about right, you should be holding anywhere from 16-24 songs. 128mb player is very little space. the 4 hours of music probably refers to the battery life. i just bought a Creative Zen Micro which holds 5 gigs, has a FM radio, a crappy voice recoder, and can also be used to store data. oh yea it can sync with microsoft outlook. btw 5 gigs = about 1,000 mp3s.

I got a 20gig Ipod for Christmas. I have 1,600 songs and it's not even half full. But yeah, 128mb is VERY small for music. Considering most songs are ushually 4-6mb EACH.

1 minute of MP3 music is approximately 1MB of space. 128MB = 128 minutes. If the average song is 4 minutes (which is 4MB), you can hold approximately 32 "4-minute" songs.
If you want hours of playable music, you have to purchase at least a 5GB mp3 player.

Yeah those MP3 players are crap these days, basically running on a usb key.. Get your self an ipod mini, thats 5gb, or a creative zen mini also 5gb their perfect for the starter mp3 collections. I have one of the first mp3 players ever out on the market, a 15gb archos jukebox, lasted me for 2 and a half years so far, and its great.
