Awesome, I go to school in the second most dangerous place. New Orleans is a rough town, though, so it doesn't really surprise me. Baton Rouge is gettin bad, too. Then my home state of TN is up there as well. I don't really find it that rough of a place.

Oh, I love New Orleans, but only certain parts. They have one of the highest violent crime rates in the country. If you don't know where you are, then you better know how to outrun a bullet or two. We went to this one club to see an awesome band play one time and got lost and ended up in a part of town where we shouldn't have been. Luckily, we saw a cop and he told us how to get to where we were going.

Las Vegas is a rough place, more so than a lot would imagine I think. Our company paid 26,000.00/year for general liability insurance about 5-7 years ago. Today we pay about 65,000.00/year for the same coverage. Just this week we had a Isuze truck trashed and windows broken, another customers Mitsubishi had all the windows broken, and there is an MR2 with the windows SHOT out and sitting on blocks in the lot. We are trying to decide how to best increase security at night.

I have never been to New Orleans but I would love to go someday.

Big Daddy...Boulder City is very nice, safe and clean from what I see. And yes I think it has even gotten more expensive and it is a tough place to buy because they are very strict and want to keep the city nice. I live about as far away from Las Vegas as you can get without going to Boulder City. If you go north on 95 from BC as soon as you hit the "Las Vegas valley" you take Lake Mead west by what they call "Black Mountain" and I live about 3 miles down Lake mead in what they call Green Valley/ Green Valley Ranch. My area is not too bad but not as secure as Boulder City for sure.

yeah, some of those are surprising, but you are taking an average of cities in the state that can outweigh the good/bad.

i moved to memphis not knowing really anything about the place and months later reading an article memphis fell into top 5 worst places to live in the US due to crime, cleanliness, and some other topics... which i am now finding all to be true [:(]
in contradiction, the rest of the state, i hear, is really nice.

coastal GA and SC area will always be home eventhough savannah is ever increasing crime rates.

Yep, Memphis also has the lovely claims to fame of having the highest rate of HIV and STDs in general in the entire country. Also the highest incidence of rape in the country. It's a great place!
