I need to book the latest possible flight I can out of LAX to FLL. I'm leaving Oct. 30. Well, I wanna arrive in Florida on Oct. 30. Anyone know which airlines have red eye flights and how late they go? A 2 am or 3 am flight would be perfect, but I dunno if they go that late.

I've tried Travelocity and some other sites, but I guess they don't schedule that far out yet. Latest flight I've found is a Continental flight that leaves at 1:10 am.

Anyone have any suggestions or know of any airlines that have late red eyes?

I've taken redeyes out of LAX on United and US Air to Philadelphia, many east-bound flights leave LAX, SFO, etc. between 9 and 12 PM, and arrive on the east coast between 5 AM and 8 AM, just in time for a new day's run.

FLL is not a major airport in the big scheme, so I think it will be tough to get a lot of direct redeye options. You might have to settle for a redeye to an east coast hub like Charlotte or Atlanta, and then connect to FLL. You might also check PBI, it's about 45 minutes north of FLL.

You might also consider flying into Orlando, but that's a 2 - 3 hour drive to the coast as I recall.

I do alot of business travel to FLL, PBI and TPA and have run into this before. Part of the reason you can't schedule the flight yet is that many airlines tend to change schedules seasonally ESPECIALLY to Florida, and they haven't decided yet. They are waiting on the economy, etc. before they make the schedules. Hehe, some of them don't know if they will be in business in October.

yeah, that may be why I can't find flights to FL yet. I tried Southwest first, but their calendar doesn't go that far yet. I'm pretty sure they'll still be in business though.

I'm willing to take a connection. My goal is to just arrive at the pier in Fort Lauderdale by 4 pm latest. Earliest direct flight I found got me to FLL at 3:20. It's only a 10 min drive to the pier, but since I'd have to wait for baggage claim, I think I'd be cutting it too close. Plus, there might be weather delays in Oct. and stuff.

3:20 PM to 4:00 PM is cutting it way too close, even for me, the "King of optimistic travel schedules". [hihi] Get 20 minute landing delay due to weather or traffic and you are hosed.

What about a 5 or 6 AM flight out of LAX? Party all night, catch the plane and sleep to Florida.

That would be ideal. Problem is, I can't find any of those. Really weird. I know they have flights that early. I guess there just aren't any going to FLL.
