There was a show on The Discovery Channel that said that starting in 2000, many of the USPS trucks would be made by prisoners that had over 5 but under 10 years in hopes that when they get out they will have learned something productive and would utilize it to build their future.

that's cool. CA used minimum security prisoners as supplementary fire fighters during the big fires in SoCal. They got a huge chunk taken off their sentence for doing it and they learned teamwork, hardwork, etc. Seemed a good deal all around. Lots of stories of heroism or just plain good hard work from these guys. A lot of families even gave them refreshments while they were working and didn't know they were prisoners until much later.
