Meh, MTV is a virus, and must be erradicated.
Very true. I remember when MTV was actually about music all the time. Those days are long gone, and sadly small bands are having a real tough time getting recognized now.

Now its about the music culture.... yeah right....

The "old" MTV died after Viacom bought MTV. Shortly after that, Viacom started getting greedy, buying companies left and right. Then they needed to fund all the aquisitions, so MTV programming started revolving around advertising ($$$$$) and demographics, not the original intent of 24 hour Music Videos. MTV = Money TeleVision

For whatever stupid reasons, more people like watching trumped up, bogus "Reality TV" crap like Road Rules, etc. that are so far from Reality it's an insult to intelligence. Those stupid shows are when MTV "Jumped the Shark", but it gets the advertisers' $$$$$, that's all that Viacom wants.

I remember when MTV first went on the air. It really sucks now. VH1 is somewhat more like the old MTV.

MTV did not die. Actually, MTV has been having exploding ratings, with TV shows like The Newlyweds, TRL, Punk'd, etc.

But shows like Viva La Bam, Wildboys --> are what kinda make MTV sucky

If MTV was favored to adults these day, The ratings, and the popularity would decrease obviously. That is also whats being seen in hollywood, and movies. There are more roles for people 30 and under, so it appeals to younger people. The theory is, young people are more likely to go out, change their car, buy new cloths, and spend more money. People 50 and up are more likely to remain the same, wear the same cloths years after years, have the sames cars (well not you guys hehe), and not spend money to feed these growing companies.

And if you are looking for 24/7 Music Videos, Thats why MTV created MTV2
But from hearing all your taste in music, i don't think MTV2 will play the music you all like. [wiggle] [wiggle]

But the movie awards have nothing to do with shows on MTV. I personally think the VMA's and the MTV movie awards are the most entertaining awards shows to watch, although they are no Golden Globes or Grammys [hihi] [hihi]

Actually you have confirmed exactly what I said - the OLD MTV died, and MTV is now "reality" shows almost 24 x 7, very little music besides Spankin New & Carson's TRL.

With all due respect, you need to look at marketing information and demographics. People 50 and up have and spend the most money of any age group. What the companies are fighting for in the 15 - 30 age group is brand recognition & loyalty, especially in higher ticket items such as cars, electronics, etc. They want to glue the brand names - Sony, Apple, Dell, Mazda "Zoom Zoom", "Volvo for Life", whatever, in this group's minds so that as you reach the 30+ age, you buy their higher priced (and more profitable) products. How many 18 year olds can afford an RX8? But they ALL recognize "ZOOM ZOOM" instantly and some of them can buy an MX3. Wanna guess which is more profitable - an MX3 or a RX8? It's the 30+ group where the majority of companies make their money. This is why Mitsubishi is in trouble - they marketed lower priced cars to the 16 - 25 crowd with lower income, but have nothing attractive for more affluent buyers to make higher profits.

My stupid cable system doesn't carry MTV2 or I would watch it. You're stereotyping age and music tastes - true for some people, not me. My current CD wallet includes Hoobastank (since 2001 when they released the "Hoobastank" CD), Nickelback, Outkast, Simple Plan, Coldplay, Train, Linkin Park. I listen to "Hybrid Theory" alot, I think it's one of the best CDs released in the past 3 or 4 years. Hehe, I was at the POD/Hoobastank/LP tour in Philly in January this year. I WASN'T the oldest person there!

HA!! HBO has been playing B&B Do America lately, cracks me up every time.

MTV is HGTV for teens.
MTV2 is MTV -20 years.

i was reading in a gossip magizine that that crocodile purse nichole richie is holding is a belly of a alligator and is valued at $100,000

I think she should spend $100,000 on diamonds becasue she clearly isn't sporting any
