I'm in the market to replace my P.O.S. Hitachi DVD changer. I came across this Gateway DVD Player that connects to Ethernet and lets you build playlists from your PC hard drive to play music and video thru your stereo and/or TV.

Anybody know anything about this unit? Are there other brands out there that have similar features?

Not bad looking. In my opinion if you really want a good DVD player you'll want one that can play MPEG-4 media (Divx/Xvid). I have an Elta Divx-DVD player that will play pretty much any format out there on either CD-Rs or DVD-Rs for the higher quality divx movies. Once you get a system down you can "backup" retail DVDs with no loss in audio or visual quality at all. If you want to see more about the player go to www.elta.de - You know it's good since it's German :p I got mine off of eBay a few months ago and it's already paid for itself 100 times over. Just go to ebay and search for DivX dvd player.

I found another one, made by Go Video. Exact same features, sold by Amazon and others for $250. Probably the same base unit as the Gateway in different packaging. The Gateway is $50 less. This is looking pretty good, might just be on the Christmas List!!
