last night near Kagy blvd. and S 19th Ave. Was driving buy and saw what looked like an old shaggy dog, but my girlfriend said it looked like a puppy trying to cross this road Kagy during traffic. We pulled over and it was a golden retriever puppy (14 weeks old) and she was all muddy, wet, and scared. We took her in and drove all over to random houses that were near by and no one knew the dog.

We bathed her, got her a new harness and leesh, a random toy to chew on and stuff. kept her over night, and fed her and stuff. i was super scared that she had been dumped, in which case i would've taken the dog as my own.

the owner called me at 6:00am MST and was really frantic saying "my vet told me you have my puppy" i brought her over at 6:30am MST and the puppy and the owners older Golden started to play; the puppy, aneka, was very happy to be home.

poor dog, but we took good care of her and she was happy to be home. i guess the older golden got in a fight with a lab and it scared the puppy and she just ran off.

so yeah, happy ending

You make me proud Dan, let me know if you need any monetary donations to help care for the dog. I wouldn't mind chipping in.

thanks Tom, i think anyone would've done the same if they saw this frieghtened and extremely cute puppy on the side of the road. she slept in our room last night, and seemed really happy to be clean and in a nice home.

the owner actually just called me a couple hours ago to say thanks again, i'm really glad she got her little girl back.

You can judge men by how they treat animals and their mothers............good going Dan.......last week I saved a baby bird that had fallen out of the nest at an intersection by my house......got one of the local policemen to help me stop traffic...he was laughing.....brought him home and made a nest in a big bin with bird seed and water and nesting materials hoping he was old enough to make it....well you know me and my luck........found him drowned in the pool later that week.........so sad, I tried.....glad you had a happy ending........

i spent $33 on the dog, and the lady gave me $40 just because. i am going to return the money at the end of the summer, so she forgets who its from. talk is not cheap, i don't want her to feel like her puppy running away cost her "money." thats stupid, i just want the lady to care for her.

Just keep the loot. If she cared for the puppy, she wouldn't have let that happen. She was just compensating you for your time and effort, which was certainly deserved. Don't make this into an all-noble "my good deed helped me sleep better at night and I'll never accept any money" kind of deal.

emile, this is obviously a situation you and i see in a completely different light. i'm not trying to be noble. and my good deed did help me sleep at night. you especially, living in/near a big city like nyc, should appreciate stories like this. so many people in nyc are jsut out to make their own dollar go the farthest, in the mean time dicking on everyone. people like that don't deserve to live. what happened to treat people how you want to be treated

I almost hit a puppy trying to cross the road today. It jumped out in front of my wheel. Luckily, I was in a BMW. I've seen this dog around the neighboorhood, but I don't know where it lives. The owners really should take better care of it. You'd think that poodle owners would love their dogs more than that.

You did a good thing. I don't think giving the money back is like spitting in her face, and I wouldn't blame the owner at all. I've been in a similar situation, and I know I was very thankful for the guy who found her and took care of her.

foomonkey, you should have ran that little piece of shit over and driven away. More brake dust on your rims is certainly not worth a dog's life.

-please note my sarcasm.
