I feel like we've done this one before...but I couldn't find it anywhere....and I've been gone for so long....

....so what's your favorite beer?

I have a few. I go through phases when it comes to beer.

  1. Killian's Red
  2. Iron City
  3. Miller Lite - current phase
  4. Yuengling Lager (always a safe bet)
  5. **** LaBatt's Blue - Personal Favorite **** -- for right now
  6. Molson Canadian
  7. Sam Adams
I'm developing a taste for Guiness Extra Stoudt.

Oh man, one of my favorite topics. I used to do home brewing, but it takes a lot of time over several days, can't seem to find that much free time at once anymore.

My favorites:
Stoudt's Scarlet Lady
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (must be draft)
Guiness
Spaten Optimator
Dogfish Head Imort Ale (12% alcohol! This is a sipping beer!)

Old standby - Yuengling Lager

But the best beer I have ever had was local lagers and weizen (wheat) in Bavaria and Innsbruck [cheers]

Hands Down, No Questions About it:

The Most Famous German Premium Pils Beer

Bitburger Brauerei Th. Simon, Bitburg, Germany

In Germany, the home of beer, Bitburger ranks among the three top brands - a challenge in a market with over 1200 breweries and over 5000 beers! Bitburger is Germany's most popular and number one brand of draft beer.

Since 1817, six generations of the Simon family have brewed Bitburger Pils to perfection. Remaining within the "Reinheitsgebot," (German Beer Purity Law), Bitburger has its own quality rule handed down from generation to generation: to brew, using only the highest quality raw materials in a traditional fermentation process - a Pils which no one can better.

The special taste and the wholesome nature of Bitburger Pils is due to the selection of the finest natural ingredients: aromatic hops, the best summer barley, and crystal-clear water from the local Eifel mountains.

In accordance with the laws of nature, the Bitburger brewer carefully tends a cold, main fermentation and a long-maturing process at temperatures near the freezing point of beer. This brings out the wholesome, delicately smooth taste and guarantees that the quality is retained on the journey from the brewery to the customer.

Bitburger also brews "DRIVE," one of the top non-alcoholic beers in the world. With a taste like the very best of the continental lagers, it's a rich, golden brew with a creamy head. Bitburger Drive sets up a full bouquet as it's poured with a long and balanced finish.

Bitburger Pils, "ein Besonderes unter den Besten!" Outstanding among the Best!

[cheers]

OK Big Daddy, now I'm sitting here drooling for a Bitburger. Never had one, now I'm going to have to go find a place to buy it (I hate it when that happens! [hihi] ). I'm finishing up a case of Spaten Optimator, sounds like Bitburger is next.

Bear - I can always find time for a couple of beers, maybe we need to do a pub crawl to find a Bitburger.

Bitburger? hm well yeah...but sorry big daddy the most successfull in germany right now is Krombacher. As far as export figures are concerned, Becks and Warsteiner fight for the lead.

personally i like Alt Bier. Bear, especially you should know that as you friend is from Düsseldorf! My hometown Düsseldorf has a very own and unique brewing tradition and kind of beer. you could say i was raised with it [hihi]

German:
Im not a big hefeweizen fan, but Franziskaner Hefe Weissbier has got to be my favorite german beer.
Second of all, "Bitte Ein Bit!"
Third choice of german bier is Alt. (Isnt it called Altenburger?)
None of which i can get around here. My dad gets cases of Krombacher every couple of months, its ok, but not great.

Americas:
Red Stripe - Amazing Jamaican beer, my favorite!!
Cerveceria Modelo puts out the best Mexican beer evah!! So my favorite of theirs is Negra Modelo.
Ive always been a miller fan (not miller lite), grew up drinking pretty much every miller brand religiously, but id say any Leinenkugel, depending on my daily taste, is my third choice of an america's beer.

alt is not a short for a certain brand. alt actually is a way to brew a beer, such as pils or hefeweizen. alt is not very popular, even in germany. the majority is into pils beer.

altbier brands someone might have seen already are:

I'm still sorta new to the area. You're gonna have to help me on this one.

Wadula, my friend didn't say much about other German beers. We were lucky to have the Bitburger in the US. .....that and we were under 21 at the time. It was cool, though, if he ever needed something, he would whip out his German ID. Nobody could read it so they assumed he was telling the truth about his age. [:D]
