Phoenix Gas Shortage!

This is just getting ridiculous! I'm going to end up having to park the M3 due to the fact that I can find no 91 octane gasoline! [?|]

According to last evenings news, it will be two to three weeks before this is resolved. I am waiting for violence to break out at the pumps. [paranoid]

That sucks, I saw a report about it on CNN today and people were waiting in line for hours and then were told there is no more gas. Why cant they truck it in?!?

It really shows how poorly we are prepared in this country. A major power ooutage due to transmission line failures, long gas lines and shortages due to a ruptured line. Come on America, let's get prepared. The news said that the prices are higher in the Pacific Northwest then anywhere else in the country? I know premium here in the Seattle area is over $2.00. Help I own three premium powered BMW's[?|]

Thing is, if people are running out of gas, they cant go to work. That causes the economy get even worse than it is! Same thing with the power outtage. I have to give our power company, PP&L a hand becuase our power is always on. The last time we had a power outtage here (including storms) was about 4 years ago, when they installed a new power meter.

From the link to the article....

"Only a handful of refineries make the special blend and relaxing the rules would make more supply available."

"It is unique to the Valley and contains MTBE, a suspected carcinogen that California is phasing out."

What is so important about the fuel additive in the gas they use? I mean, i'd hope that the govoner would realize the severity of the situation and let fuel providers bing in whatever gas they can haul.

Of course, the fuel companies are to blame for the entire mess. I'm not gonna pay 3 bucks a gallon when it's their fault for not having the foresight to know that there'd be a shortage. They can go smake a big fatty for all i care. Gas companies already gross billions of dollars annually. Most all of the major gas companies are at the top of ALL businesses in sales. And I bet this pushes up the price of gas around the country, just b/c they can.

Wow thats bad...is that image for real or grossly exaggerated at a particular gas station?
Tom, that image is for real. I would say that 3/4 of the gas stations that I passed this morning were out of gasoline. And at 5:30 am the average line to get gas in my area was a 40 minute wait with 40-50 cars in line.

What really roasts my nutz was when I pull up and asked if they had supreme, was told yes and then wait 40 minutes in line to find out that they didn't have supreme! [?|]

This is the law of supply and demand, right? You guys have high demand because of a rupture in the PREMIUM supply line. So I can see all of your gas prices going up due to lower supply.

BUT - SOMEWHERE THERE SHOULD BE AN OVERSUPPLY OF GAS because you guys AREN'T getting it, so supply and demand says someone else gets a LOWER price due to over supply, right?

Yeah, right .......[fake]

Vald, what part of town are you in, and how is the situation there??? I work on the eastern edge of sun city, and the wait is usually less than 30 minutes, and prices are $1.90-$1.99 a gal (bad part is that it is only regular unleaded). I was fortunate - Just as my regular routine, I filled up both my wifes and my vehicles on friday, so we should be good until about mid next week (no, I'm not going to 'top-off'). I parked my BMW, and my wife and I are just driving the Chevrolet's (newer malibu and trailblazer).
The bad part is that most of my customers are the older, retired Sun City residents who are 'topping off' (going to fill up when they still have more than half a tank). And with most of these folks, a half a tank will last them sometimes a month or more!!
