California Water Blade !!

Hey,

So last week I pickedup a California Water Blade from K-Mart (heh, my favorite store [;)]) after reading about it in a magazine. For those of you don't know what it is, it is this soft rubber blade with an edge to it. Instead of conventionally drying your car with crazy amounts of towels and having to deal with getting rid of all the water spots, you just take the water blade and "sweep" it across the car and it sheets the water right off. Here is a picture:

Anyways, so I washed my car yesterday, and I tried drying it with this product for the first time, and I must say WOW!! It was really quick, easy, and effective. It did a superb job of drying the car....just one sweep down the center of the hood and it sheeted the water completely off, it did a better job than my microfiber towels do. So anyways, I just thought the members of this forum who are really into car care should really consider this product. I am extremely happy with it and I will be using it from now on to dry my car. My only concern is/was that perhaps the blade could be scratching the paint?? It really didn't seem so because the blade is rubber and it doesn't seem to be harming the body when I was sheeting all the water off...I was overall really really impressed and satisfied with this product. I used to have to use 10 microfiber towels (no joke) to dry my car...yesterday, all I needed was the Water Blade and 2 microfiber towels. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
MrElussive

P.S. No, I have nothing to do with California Water Blade or anybody who sells the California Water Blade. I just really liked this product and I thought you guys should know about it. [:)]

I have been using the California Water Blade for years with no negative results. I do wipe the blade with a cotton towel between each swipe. The blade is made of surgical rubber and is prety safe. Costco also sells them.

I can also attest to the water blade's effectiveness. Still, do as Big Daddy suggested and wipe the Blade with a clean cotton towel after each swipe to avoid scratching the paint w/ some junk that may accumulate. It's tempting to just use the Blade on the whole car cuz it works so well and quickly, but it's best to be safe.

I have read nothing but good reviews for this product.

The only reason that I havn't tried one is my fear of debris getting between the blade and the paint, then scratching the paint's surface.

Big Daddy, thanks for the tip.
What I did yesterday was, I wiped the whole car down (without wiping the blade at all), except for the lower parts of the body (lower side body panels, front lower bumper, rear lower bumper) as even though I make sure to wash those parts of the car, I am sure there was still some dirt within the paint. It did a great job of cleaning up the glass as well. I kept looking at the blade to see if dirt was accumulating on it, but I didn't notice anything so I think it's okay. Either way, I will make sure to use Big Daddy's technique of swiping the blade with a towel after every "sweep" next time I am washing my car. I definitely recommend this to anyone, I really had great results drying the car....saved a lot of time and a lot of towels and did a better job !!

It is pretty cool, but the water in my county is the second hardest water in the country...OUCH! Not very good for cars!! It gets the water off fine but then what happens is the very little streaks that are left over show up as water marks.

Hrm...I think I'll have to start washing my car with spring water.

When we went to look at dish washers, They had a book with every US water plant's water test results, and the amount of minerals where I live is 2nd or 3'd.

We also have very hard water here in Las Vegas. The average life of a dishwasher here in a home without a water softener is 3 years. And if you dont get every bit of moisture off the car here you will be sorry because it destroys paint.

Honestly, I don't care how hard your water is. The fact is, the California Water Blade sheets the water off completely...leaving NO water on your car. Like I said, it works extremely well....if you wipe at a flat surface, it will wipe the entire surface off...it is much better than a windshield wiper, as it is completely flawless.

Come wash your car here, you'll loose 10 pounds trying to keep the car from getting water marks...
