That's GM quality for ya [thumb]

I saw the crash tests on the minivan we have, and the lower body/frame was so stiff, that in a front offset impact, everything (engine and everything behind it) was pushed into the passenger compartment. The steering wheel is pushed to about 5" away from the drivers headrest (so your head would be crushed against your seat) and the dash is pushed so close that your legs and feet have absolutely NO room.

How fast is this crash test?? 40 mph.

Damn, that's not good. My old boss has a Tahoe and he's the worst driver I've ever seen. I hope he gets another car soon. He was the best boss ever. Totally great guy. Well, I guess he coulda been less military, but he was still great. I can't really imagine too many other cars that he'd fit into though.

i wouldnt call it a test!!!!!!!!!!! he could of died[:(!] [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]

I talked to my brother and found out some bad stuff...
It was coming off a highway....in texas on and off ramps are on steep hills....he was doing about 55 and the car lost control on new tar....he tried to save it but couldnt the fron driver wheel hit the dirt and the car flew REALLY FLEW of the steep hill It landed on its front driver side then landed on the drivers side A pillar then it rolled again and ended up right..The roof on the drivers side is all the way down to the head rest!!! andwhen the roof came in it hit my brother on the head ( he says he saw a bunch of colors ) The cars engion is blown because it was running when it went up side down... he said the sterio still works though.....He also said that the front windshiled caved in and cut his hands up...
The cops said its amazing he walked away and for there girl in the car she is fine she just is sore from the seatbelt....

My mom is going up there to take him to the doctor to make sure his head is ok.....

it was not a TAHOE think bigger

^ Hence the reason I do not like SUV's. SUV's do not have to meet saftey standards that cars do and people over estimate what the vehicle can do.

Glad your bro is okay though, hope he is free from un-seen injuries.

I know someone who had a Chevrolet Silverado Truck and got in a bad accedent and also walked away. The car was totaled and no air bags deployed. For some reason the air bags dont deploy often in chevys. He bought a new one though.

i think some airbags should of gone off!!![:(!]

it was coming off a highway then there was a sharp turn with no signs warning you to slow down!!!![:(!]

From what you described, the side airbag didn't deploy because it wasn't a side impact crash. Airbags are designed to deploy on RAPID deceleration. Although it is scary, a rollover doesn't generate the rapid deceleration forces like a collision. Airbags are not the 'magic shield' that everyone thinks they are. They are designed for very specific types of crashes.

Anyone who has airbags can learn a few things from this article:
http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbag

But in part it says -
"Because air bag sensors measure deceleration, vehicle speed and damage are not good indicators of whether or not an air bag should have deployed. "

I'm not trying to down play your brother's accident. It really sucks and I hope he is OK. You didn't mention if the front airbag deployed. But it seems like the side bag probably worked as designed.

I thought MINI's were supposed to be safe? For the accedent my friend was in, it was a direct frontal crash on a highway wall going about 60, I think the airbags shuld have deployed then.

I know the new thing for roll overs is the new side curtain air bags.
