Somehow I suspect the damage is from the body. Is that in Japan or China? Looks like China to me judging from the few faces I can see clearly and the fact that there's a farm vehicle on the road (saw tons in China when I visited, none in Japan).

I looked it up, the license plate on the X5 is a Chinese plate.

Poor biker.[:(] But I do see alot of bikers in the states who dart in and out of traffic, they deserve to be hit![fake]

That dude probably weighed 120-130 lbs if that, I don't think thats enough to crush the front end like that, plus blow the tire?

I think he hit the guy on the bike and crashed into the tree, note all the leaves and brances around the X5 and also that guy is checking out the tree

Yeah, he must have hit the tree. The X5 is the safest SUV on the planet and the body is supposed to be incredibly strong. When BMW Planet (BMW forum) was around, the X5 owners talked about the accidents they got into and how their vehicles suffered very little damage, which was amazing considering the impacts they experienced. One owner rammed into a Toyota at 30-35mph and the only damage to the X5 was that it needed a new headlight washer on one side and some minor touch-ups to the front bumper!

The X5 is a great, very safe vehicle from what I understand. But remember what happens at 40 MPH, total destruction of the entire front of the vehicle and a total loss of the vehicle in general. Also, the marginal 5 MPH bumper test is good compared to most but still shows a $1,000.00 or so repair bill depending on who you ask and how it is hit.

Ya gotta love auto forums. Here we have some poor bicycle riding peasant getting killed by a $50K+ BMW and we ponder the damage to the vehicle. Did anybody notice the mangled body? And just who owns a German built SUV in the land of Mao anyway? Some Chinese version of Paris Hilton no doubt.

i normally would suspect that to be a dummy, it looks soo flattened out (the body of course) and as far as the BMW goes, i think it hit the guy, and that is all, and the guy continued on to hit the tree, and ricoche off the tree into the street? But who knows, and this post is VERY disturbing nonetheless...

Thanks.

I’ve been keeping a lo pro, you know giving my $.02 every once in awhile, after all I’m still a rookie and haven’t had the time to fully navigate the site. I must say everyone is great. I like the willingness to learn, share knowledge, help each other and obviously the pride in our cars.

When everyone helps his neighbor there is no one without help.
