Proud to say I am the owner of 100th anniversary Fat Boy in Vivid Black and tons of chrome. Matches my Cosmos Black 98 M Z3!!!
Am I the only one here having a tough time imagining a BMW owner owning a Harley as well? [hihi]

Just kidding. The stereotypes of BMW owners are so incredibly diverse from the stereotypes that go along with bikers. I just thought it was humorous....for about 2 seconds. I'm bored of it now, though. [:D]

Does anybody know where that billboard is located?
I got it via a bike list server, I don't know where it was taken. But I have some ideas:
1. Near a Harley major plant or headquarters - so either York, PA or Milwaukee, WI.
2. I don't think Clear Channel has any billboards in PA so I don't think it's York. But maybe EPJ3 can help us out since York is in his backyard. Anybody here from Milwaukee?

Most of the hardcore "Mom, Apple Pie and Harley Davidson" Harley owners don't have a problem with BMW as far as a brand of bike. It's almost as old as Harley. (They may not respect BMW OWNERS but that's a different issue! [:D]) Harley owners are proud of the V-Twin. But the real hardcore Harley guys know that Harley's 1st Twin engine failed miserably and was discontinued while BMW was happily cranking out twin boxer engine bikes with shaft drive!

I was more along the lines of Harley owners being your typical bikers with leather, chains, and boots where the typical BMW owners are yuppies with kakhi's, and cell phones and crap. Also, Harley owners (not all) are usually blue collar workers and BMW owners are usually white collar. Know what I mean? It's an unusual contrast to see together.

harleys became fashion bikes in the last years, midlife crisis males, lawyewrs doctors etc. drive them to be "young" again. no joke, for real. the average harley driver at the moment never even broke a lwa when he was 18 or 19...no more outlaw here...the old one's, the original one's of course are a totally different story though[:D]

Yup - I see what you're getting at - the stereotypical Harley & BMW rider. That's pretty accurate and true.

I was in york last thursday and did not see the sign (the HUGE bmw logo would have definitely caught my attention.)

My grandfather retired from the harley plant in york 6 years ago. Pretty cool, I have some jackets and toys that they only gave employees. Going to be worth a lot of money someday.

Thats a cool sign. I wonder if they'll do the same for Ford and Lambo's 40th? Both my uncles used to be Harley riders, but one of them is in Bosnia right now, and the other crashed twice and my aunt gave him the choice of keeping the bike or keeping her, so he stopped.

BMW and harley used to have a business relationship where I believe bmw was going to be partners with harley back in the day. Later on, the deal never went, and harley bought buell. Atleast thats the scratchy version of the history I have/know of. I do know they were once going to be partners.
