Reminds me of the summer I spent working at St. Jude. Lots of the kids' dads would shave their heads so that their kids wouldn't feel so weird when they lost their hair. It's really touching.

Maybe the title of the thread wasn't as direct as the commercial; I probably should have used "moving" instead of "best"

It just reminded me of something beyond the pain of a child suffering in such a way, it reminds me of how we as humans beings need to be there for one another, whether it's family, friends, or strangers. And the fact that it's a child in commercial who exhubes this behavior further reminds how "being there for one another" is an intrinsic value and that the 'speed' of life and deadlines makes us (at least me) forget those instrinsic human values, but at times, we must "cut our own hair" to show the person you care about that you are there for them no matter what. That this value of caring stems beyond the suffering we find in this world. That amass the pain and misunderstanding of a child with a crippling disease, the simple gestures make those who suffer truly know that they are not alone.

I apologize if this appears to be rambling, I don't think it is though.

Nah, I understand it wasn't supposed to be funny and the girl cut her hair so her brother doesn't feel weird about losing his hair. Like I said, it just didn't hit me.

That is the best commerical I've ever seen too. My friends have been doing this for years. Taking good care of their hair until they are 9" to 10" long to donate to the charity. The kids are fighters, but they stilll want to look and live like normal people. (P.S. I like to keep my hair shorter than 3.5" [headbang], always ready for those convertibles.)

Well, they ARE normal people... and I don't think the loss of hair is actually from the disease but from the treatment.
