"A judge and a court reporter were shot and killed at the Fulton County Courthouse in Atlanta this morning by a gunman who fled and is being sought by police in a manhunt through downtown Atlanta.
Several city blocks have been blocked off as law enforcement officials crawl through downtown in search of the man, identified by police as Brian Nichols, 34, who witnesses said grabbed a gun from a sheriff's deputy during his rape trial and begin shooting in the courtroom, several news agencies were reporting.
CNN reported that two deputies had been shot while pursuing the suspect.
Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor confirmed that Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and his court reporter were killed, The Associated Press said. He gave no other details in announcing the deaths in the state Senate........"
